I guess I have to quit using M-W - it almost never has the words you guys
choose.

AllWords.com, Aruba. I think it's failed me once, so far (and it has a
wildcard search).

for a freely available web-based access, I tend to like American Heritage
(www.bartlebys.com/61, IIRC; I mentioned it a few weeks ago in either this
or the seven letter game).

I use "dict" on a local UN*X box or two to check possible spellings. I don't
bother with pattern-matching web software. If that's all there is to playing
this game, why bother?

Do any of those web sites work through Lynx? I dial in to Grex, so don't
have any other access to the web while I'm on.
Rane - when last I looked, you had to be at a .edu site to use the OED
online. But that was a while ago. Is it still true?

I remember when that was first brought up. I even got an account on it. I
was wondering if that were the one y'all were discussing.

There's also http://www.askoxford.com/ although that doesn't look
very search-friendly nor as Lynx-friendly as the umich OED page.
