well I guess if you believe the Da Vinci Code, and stories it is based
upon, Jesus survived the "crucifixion" attempt, got over his messiah
complex, married Mary Magdalene and moved to France, where they had two
kids. It is therefore possible, that when Jesus became a frenchman, he
took to wearing women's clothing once in a while :)

Today I got a second notice that the extra-cheap copy of the textbook for the
immunology course I am auditing this semester is delayed another month and
might arrive April 18. It is only $16 plus shipping instead of $80, but won't
be all that useful for this course. But I was also notified today that the
public library ordered a more recent immunology textbook (2006/2007 ???) that
will be arriving no later than March 10, even though it is not their policy
to order medical textbooks. Their current immunology textbook is from the
80s and a lot has happened since then. The library has ordered almost
everything we requested, all but a friend's Romanian fiddle CD (they had some
of that genre already). They even ordered one book that turned out to be
mostly calculations of how many apples, potatoes, or chickens it would take
to keep a barn warm (and lots of other people took it out).

IBB I won an item on ebay and now the seller wants to charge me three times
what the winning bid was for shipping. He didn't disclose the shipping costs
in the auction. Some sellers try to make up for low winning bids by doing
things like this. Its annoying.

How do they not disclose shipping costs?
slynne
response 278 of 318: Mark Unseen   Mar 1 21:26 UTC 2006

that is why I never bid on anything from ebay unless the shipping costs
are in the item or the seller is willing to disclose them by email.

What's the legal limit to screw a winning bidder?

I watch shipping costs very closely when I bid on anything on eBay, as
well.

I bought a camera transfer cable for $0.99 and paid $3 shipping and was happy.
You did not mention the amounts involved, or the weight of the item.

IBB they killed off Edgar on '24' last night. He was one of the best
characters and will be missed. I was actually hoping if someone had to
die on last night's episode, they would have rubbed out Kim Bauer,
Jack's bratty daughter. Poor Kiefer saves her life again and again,
every season, and what does he get for it? No appreciation, I tell ya!

The body count is rising and the twenty four hour day's not half over
yet. At this rate they'll have to get Kiefer an entire new supporting
cast next season :)

I've heard rumors that Chloe is going to avenge Edgar and become a super hero
like Bauer.

response 286 of 318: Mark Unseen   Mar 8 00:34 UTC 2006

Well, she did shoot those two guys last season, and she was adequate (if
not heroic) this morning when being pursued.

Kim will probably end up working next to Chloe in the next couple of
hours. She's a "fully trained CTU analyst" (from day 3, remember?)
and CTU has a bit of a staff shortage all of a sudden.

The bummer for me with 24 is the frequent ad breaks. It makes it all not
worthwhile.

One character I hope they don't kill off this season is Sean Astin's.
He's been a terrific addition, and we don't yet know just how
villainous he will turn out to be.

response 290 of 318: Mark Unseen   Mar 8 00:45 UTC 2006

24 is hard to watch without a DVR, not mainly because of the ad breaks
but because of the serial format which makes it difficult to feel caught
up after missing an episode. But that's also what makes it good.

response 291 of 318: Mark Unseen   Mar 8 00:52 UTC 2006

Of course the real suspense on '24' is always will Jack Bauer make it
through twenty four hours without eating, drinking or taking a crap,
and still have enough strength left by the end of the last hour to save
the world.

I mean the poor guy NEVER has time to eat! :)

Best way to watch "24" is on DVD. No ads. Of course, it means you're
at least a season behind...
richard
response 293 of 318: Mark Unseen   Mar 8 15:39 UTC 2006

There have been hints this season of Jack Bauer having vigilante tendencies.
He killed a guy in the season opener that he didnt even need to kill. Maybe
his daughter dies at the end of the season and he cracks up and turns
vigilante. Next season then he's the bad guy and Chloe and Tony Almeida are
ordered to go capture him or kill him before he tells the bad guys all his
secrets.

Now you've done it - given it all away. But think of all the time I'll save
not watching.
