I talked to the guy at the Benz bldg today, and will take a look at the office
tomorrow. He's open to discussing mutually rewarding options, and has two
offices for rent...90sq' and 130sq' (220/mo & 330/mo respectively...includes
all utilities).
I gave him the picture of the organiation, and the electric bill in the range
of $100/mo. He could lower the rent a bit due to the office being unoccupied
most of the time, but would have to add something for the increased electric
costs. also would not want to pay for changes in phone connection box to
accomodate extra phone lines (if needed, that would be tenant expense). is
aware of, and has no problem with, sharing of space with another group such
as mnet.
He described the offices as singfle person offices, with work surface, hanging
lateral file, chair, etc. He did have concern that more than 1 or 2 people
at a time just wouldn't fit. 24 hour access is included. Bldg is air
conditioned. Located at Eisenhower just W of the Packard split.
I'll post anything else I can make contact with asap.

Note that unless the building has independent climate control for each
office, "air conditioning" will have little cooling benefit for the
equipment, as the individual office will heat up while the rest of the
building remains sufficiently cool so as not to trigger the thermostat.

Would adequate ventilators (into a larger space) alleviate this problem?

Ventilating a room in a more generally air-conditioned bldg can certainly do
the trick.
Well, I just talked to someone else who has a space of 100sq' at about
$100/mo, available, on Eisenhower near Main. Problem is, he has electronic
security and is reluctant to have the security passcode out to more than a
small # of ppl for after hours access. In the face of that problem, I don't
think it will work out...unless you can keep after hours ppl down to a
handfull or less.
I'm waiting for a call back on the Plymouth Rd space to set up a
viewing...most likely for Wednesday after 4pm. If that's _no good_, please
let me know asap. You can call me at my office at 971-7177 today.

Thanks, Rick. I'm hoping you've been able to get in touch with them today,
and can post something here or send me mail tonight. Otherwise, if you end
up arranging something for tomorrow afternoon tomorrow morning, or something
like that, can you please page me to tell me about it? My pager number is
in my .plan.

OK. I _just this moment_ made contact with Sam. He's been waiting to hear
back from his partner on which space to show, since there may be a small room
already available without raising any divider walls (I'm not sure...it may
not even be in the basement).
Sams going to get with Nick today, but he said we should meet him at 4pm in
any event. That way he can show us the bldg, talk a little turkey, and with
a little luck he will have made contact with Nick and show this otherwise
locked room he told me about.
Address is 3001 Plymouth Road. It is a two (or three?) story office bldg on
the north-east corner of Plymouth at Prarie...right by that bldg on stilts...
between Nixon and Green. Sam is in the Cottage Inn office.
I'm going to mail this to baff and the others I've talked to in mail and will
be there myself. Hope this isn't too much "11th hour".

Since lots of actual board members will be there, I decided to refrain from
making it too much of a crowd scene.

And..... it looks pretty good. We need to see what all spaces we've looked
at, and what we can afford, but the space itself looks quite promising.

The phone book says the Cottage Inn Pizza headquarters, which is in the same
building, has a 663 number, and 663 and 761 are off the same wire center.
So, I think hte answer to that is yes.
