Tuesday night? Well, I was on the phone with Jason, then lestat, then
sunny and I went out- that's the day she was here. Where was I supposed
to be? And no, unfortunately sunny has gone back to Grand Rapids, I
can get you her number if you want...

On the previous topic...
In my experience, I have almost never been able to actually offer practical
advice to my friends. Usually, you can't think of anything anyhow, and
advice is a very dangerous game. What I have had great success with is in just
being there with a sympathetic/empathetic ear and a hug. It may not seem like
much, but it can be hugely important. I think that talking about your problems
is one of the most important reasons to have friends. Talking problems out,
even if it is frowned upon by the macho image of society, is the best way I
have ever come across of dealing with problems, or at least starting to do so.
And if you have friends who you can feel comfortable talking to and can rely
on for a bit of wordless comfort every once in a while, you have a big
advantage in dealing with your problems.

I would still like to know where I was supposed to be!
<grin>

A hug can make all the difference sometimes. I agree flem, often I have
trouble coming up with advice that I think will be helpful. I also think
that the main thing is listening, offering a should to cry on, and a hug.

i'm also always trying to give advice, but it usually nbackfires. :(

and hugs make a world of differances...no one can resist the true joy of
a hug!

your last message and it got lost. Mail me again w/your phone# and Sunny's?

response 46 of 245: Mark Unseen   Oct 18 16:45 UTC 1994

i firmly believe that there should be no outside freezing of items..only the
person who put it in and the fw's should be able to do things like that.
scg
response 47 of 245: Mark Unseen   Oct 18 22:00 UTC 1994

Only the person who put it in, the fws, and the cfadms can do that, and I
don't think the cfadms freeze items without permission except in very rare
cases (last winter's breakin, after which an item in Agora containing a
listing of the passwords of lots and lots of Grexers was frozen by popcorn
acting as cfadm comes to mind).
anne
response 48 of 245: Mark Unseen   Oct 18 22:03 UTC 1994

Steve: why didn't popcorn kill the item? I mean if it was frozen it could
stil be read....

Anyway, yes- we've sort of got it worked out- Gerund didn't do it, and
I didn't. Sun did- she and I have talked about it. Don't worry.

scg
response 49 of 245: Mark Unseen   Oct 18 22:06 UTC 1994

That's right. I meant to say that she had killed the item, but my extreme
state of tiredness combined with lots of netlagcaused me to type something
other than what I meant.
