For the Clash I would say The Clash "The Clash," followed by Give them
Enough Rope," and "Londen Calling" which is my favorite Clash album, though
a little jazz oriented.

Re#22:
I'll bite: what IS the 70's incarnation like. I was looking at, for example,
"red," "starless and bible black," and the one with the name about poseidon.

The *later* 70's albums ("Red", "Starless...") are more "progressive" IMO
than the earlier 70's albums. "Red" is my favoritie 70's KC album.
The *first* KC album is really good as well. A really great collection
on vinyl (if you can find it anymore) is "A Young Person's Guide To
King Crimson". The CD version of it isn't as good as it leaves off a number
of key tracks. "Poseidon" is the 2nd album and is a pretty good duplication
of the first one.

I know Brian Eno worked on Laurie's new one, but I don't
know exactly what he did.
And the SY album title is "Experimental Jet Set, Trash,
and No Star". Gotta be a story behind that one.

The Levellers are sort of the "house band" for a large number of
alienated English young people who spend lots of time going
from music festival to music festival. Leftist to anarchist
lyrically; standard rock band plus fiddle instrumentally.
The best album is probably the second, LEVELLING THE LAND.
All the fans I know did not like the third album, THE LEVELLERS.
The Levellers are probably appalled that much of their US audience
consists of middle-aged folkies like me.

I did finaly get the new Laurie Anderson album "Bright Red." I was
expecting alot, and I must say this tape did not deliver. It's a very
dark moody album, that while it's well done in spots imo doesn't stand
up to her earlier material either musicaly or lyricaly.

The Throwing Muses are the best. They are Kristen Hersh who writes
incredible dark but not prententious poetry and Tanya Doonely now gone
from the group <sniff> and leading Belley when she doesn't play with the
Breeders. If you haven't heard Throwing Muses before check out "The
Real Ramona," or the Kristen hersh solo album "Hips and Makers."
The Throwing Muses also have a drummer I forget his name and they
changed there bass player in 1991 and i g=forget his name also.
As for there sound, they sound a little bit like Belley but a little more
complex, darker, and more rocking, but also equaly as lyrical.

I like the record AORTA. It is a record from 1969. It has some really good
frum solos. I would like to hear from people who have heard AORTA as far as i
know i am only one of a few that have. It is a record of my father's.

Well, the hype machine is cranking up for Belly -- cover of Tower Pulse
this month -- so their CD should be out in the next couple of weeks.

It's out today :-) I just got it while it hasn't really sunk into
my brain yet, I like it so far. It's more country & retro sounding than
star and seems very soulfull and well played with excellent lyrics.

Has anyone heard all of the Jazz Passengers new CD. I guess it's
all vocal stuff, and it has sounded good, but I'm little hesitent to spend
$16.00 for the CD until I hear more about it.

Re: #41 Lords of Acid sort of sound like My Life With the Thrill Kill
Kult... except LoA is much, much more sexually explicit. They have
interesting music... but I don't own any of their CD's or would really
care to. LoA are very different in comparison to Belly and the Breeders.
