When I log in, I get this:

0: Event not found.

and portions of my .login and .cshrc are not run. For example, I don't get
a path, but I do get my prompt. (Path is in .login, prompt is in .cshrc)
Yet, I don't get my alias file sourced (in .cshrc) I really haven't
changed anything (Yeah, that's what they all say, but I haven't changed
anything on my account in over a year) If I source .login and .cshrc by
hand, everything works fine. Anyone know what's up? (I use tcsh, and
have never had a single problem in the past)

Oops. I did add that alias. I thought I had it right. (Okay, so I *did*
change something!) (The .login, I didn't change anything. Probably saved it
with a different number of spaces. I changed tabwidths and stuff.)

OK, ttyh5, which was not set for error-correcting, is now set for
error-correcting.

I had a similar problem this morning on 4931 and 5041. I would get
"connected" by never get a login prompt. The second time I tried, I walked
away from the screen for 7 minutes and came back to find Deja News on the
screen??????

Anyway, after dialing in just fine on 3000, I came back and was able to get
on with 5041

Re #24: The itemlist page will be slow in large conferences (since it needs
to read the header of every itemlist in the conference). Not much I can do
about that, but the next release of Backtalk (which I've been working on for
the last few days) should be noticably faster.

What sort of "menu" are you looking for?

761-3000 takes about 5 or 6 rings to pick up sometimes, but it
has bee consistently picking up, though last night I was also
consistently connecting but the modems didn' want to talk to me.

Well, I've fixed the line that was open, but ivynymph stole my recommendation:
don't give up, because we have a system now that forwards to the next line
if there is no answer for x rings.

Is there a reason why the system number are up to 24.whatever?
Time to log in and launch mail was close to three minutes.

I learned the correct way to log out the semi-difficult way... I dialed into
a session of someone who did it the wrong way. Had I possessed the
motivation, I could have done all sorts of unpleasant things with the login

<sigh> our load average is now around 25. Is this still due to too
many sendmail processes? Or the System's eccentricity? It took
almost a minute for me to *exit* my mail!

I haven't been having any mail problems myself of late - several times I've
noticed someone log on, and shortly afterwards gotten a piece of mail from
them, so speed seems not to be a problem.
