At least as of circa 3:08 p.m., the login screen remains uninformative
that a newuser program is available:

>Trying... Connected to CYBERSPACE.ORG.
>
>
>OpenBSD/i386 (grex.cyberspace.org) (ttyp3)
>
>User not authenticated. Using plaintext username and password

Re. #25:
I.e., the number of newusers logging in could be increased by also
restoring the notice to the login screen. Until then, the only newusers
logging in will be those who are already aware of the newuser program.

I had a ton of problems getting to the summer conf this time. It
doesn't appear to be letting me in from my conf list, but I can get to
it through cyberspace.org, and then click on conf areas and agora.
WEIRD!

Also known as "telnet".

This backtalk problem is weird, and seems to affect fronttalk as well.
I wasn't able to access summer Agora with either the first time I tried.
However, after joining Agora once with picospan, I could access Agora
just fine with backtalk.

It makes sense that the problem would affect both, since fronttalk is
just a command-line front end to backtalk.

My guess would be that backtalk either isn't creating the .agora??.cf file,
or is creating it with the wrong perms.

repeated strange behaviour in mail....

situation ...sometimes two emails get 'stuck together' as one.

formerly, i was able to edit, put couple blamk lines between emails
and assure that first line of 2nd email started with From blah@bletch
and since the parser looks for From (not From:) saved stuff
workde JustFine (tm). parser also looks for zero-character line ahead
of From .

now, however ............. <<grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr>> edit says 'screw-you'
'i'm gonna stick a damn > character infrnt of your pissant From
trick and keep all th is shit stuck toegether just like i fscked it
up for you before! Thhhhbpbpbpbpbpbpb!!

with all this upgrade stuff, how, when sendmail jams 2->1 what sort of
magicv incantations are necessary to unstick so that 1->2 ?

I've experienced the backtalk problem with agora. Usually I ssh in and
blow away .agora* in ~/.cfdir. Probably that's not a realistic option
for everyone since some people like to keep the status of the threads up
to date where I just mark everything as read after I visit each time anyway.

I've experienced the backtalk problem in a few other obscure conferences
over the past month or so. I think either comics or games was one. I
really don't remember.

It happened to me relatively recently when I was at the agora item
listing and I clicked on the 'mark all as seen', and as I was waiting
for it to refresh I middle-clicked to open in a new tab one of the items
that suddenly jumped out at me. After I closed that item I couldn't get
back into agora until I blew away my agora prefs. Maybe that will help
in tracking this down.

While dialed in direct, I still can't enter *anything* in BBS. I get some sort
of core dump error.

Also, while dialed in direct and downloading via Zmodem, I get a Bad CRC error
every 16K or so bytes.

Neither of these problems were present before the move to Colo.\

On second thought the Core Dump errors *might* have been occurring between
the move to the new system and the move to Colo. Can't remember for sure.

It is taking ridiculously long to download a file from the web to grex, and
almost as long from grex to my computer via 14.4K modem.

my .login. :)
