Would proposer be looking for a cf with 1001 items, one for each fun thing?
if not, perhaps an item with 1001 responses would fill the bill?

A practical joke conference? I'm not saying it's a bad idea,
but is that the extent of your aspirations for this "fun" cf?
Perhaps a broadening of scope wouldn't hurt.

Well, I'll leave what I said to you in another cf there, kain,
but seeing as fun is very individual a thing, you should be
prepared for a lot of items, and be prepareto be tolerant of others'
views of "fun".

If you think one item with a lot of responses would satisfy you, then maybe
you don't need a whole new cf, but can fit it in one already existing?

You'll include everything? Is this gonna turn into an agora
with *less* substance?

I'm going to get flamed for this. I'm probably even going to be
called ungrexian, or even unamerican. I'm going to propose a new
conference.
It seems that lately Coop has been moving away from the consensus style
of decision making that has served Grex so well for so many years. It's not
that nobody is trying to reach a consensus anymore, it's just that there are
a few people who seem determined not to. Therefore, I would like to propose
a conference for irrational debate about how Grex should be run. In this
conference, people would be free to make irrational proposals as often as they
want to, and then flame away at anybody who disagreed to them. Possible
topics for this conference could include arguments about the meaning of Grex's
bylaws outside of logic and out of the context of Michgan law, and in debth
discussions about what the top secret inner circle (tm) that runs Grex is
planning to do next.
I'm not volunteering to fw this, as I much prefer trying to reach
consensus and will stay in Coop. I would suggest that the three people who
seem to really go for the sort of thing that would be discussed in this
conference spend about 10 items fighting out how to decide which one of them
will get to FW.

I understand where you're coming from, Steve, so when I offer this
suggestion it is not for any other reason than I think it might
be useful for you.

Take a break from Grex. Maybe just a week. Don't log in, talk
about Grex with friends, or even ponder Grex's good times or bad.
Just get some distance. Recharge. Then come back and see if anything
that bothered you looks less important, less irritating, or maybe
even serves a purpose.

I just took a week's break - and everything now seems less important,
less irritating, and less purposeful. Good suggestion, Mary.

Re taking a break: I took several days off from the co-op conference
about a week ago. It helped a lot. Though I came back and immediately
vented at one of the regular complainants, which also (maybe, knock wood,
hope hope hope) might also have helped.

How long has the fun conference been running? Don't give up hope
so soon.
As to the coop, yet not coop, conference.. facinating, and what
if something comes up over there that is useful? It does happen.

Just because something is *named* fun doesn't automatically mean
that it will *be* fun. Having fun is hard work.
