All I was doing was appealing for an endorsement, not suggesting you endorse
it. -- George Bush, US President

It's no exaggeration to say that the undecideds could go one way or another.

Re 24: Well, that's the spin they put on Bush's reaction, but I don't buy
it.

resp:17 more entertaining than resp:18, honestly..the right-wing
chants of 'don't mess with the good ol' USA.. now we're going to whoop
your ass, because God blesses the USA' is old and dumb.
*but* I don't think the lefties are morally or objectively superior,
either. I am so sick and tired of hearing 'W's just a dumb, stupid
kiddie.'
It's more than obvious that George W. is *not* a slick politician--
odd, because we seem to complain, too, when we have slick
politicians. It is also less about the fact that George W. is
Republican; it is more about the fact that W. is a Texan. It is also
that he is a good politican that stays bought-- but the fact that he
is bought as an oilman is a problem, and it bothers us.
The nation at large is not willing to use less petroleum, even under
Democratic presidents. That is a big problem with terrorism; a lot of
terrorist nations only have petroleum as their leverage. Even having
said that, even major oil companies in OPEC nations are looking to
energy alternatives.
We can't seem to agree on energy alternatives, either. On
transportation alone-- which is a huge part of petroleum consumption--
we disagree. The nation just loves gas-guzzling SUVs and trucks, but
we don't want to use ethanol or give up storage space to hydrogen
solutions that can be retrofitted to gasoline systems.
The nation also loves little trendy cars. Contrary to popular belief,
you *can* have fuel economy in the old midsize (larger than
subcompact)-- Buick/Oldmobile proved that admirably in 1985. I keep
forgetting the engine and model, but I know that even the unleaded
version is very good. The diesel one is superb. Much easier and more
cost-efficient.
I vacilliated a lot on the last election. I went with Bush because,
as a Texan, I believed he could serve the majority of the Hispanic
population (at least over here) better. I could be wrong.

Re #24: klg, would you mind using some white space or other clear
delimiter between quotes and your responses? The way you do it is
harder on your readers.

exerptitude:
"But that attitude may be changing. Bushonics speakers, emboldened by the Bush
presidency, are beginning to make their voices heard. Lisa Shaw has formed
a support group for local speakers of the dialect and is demanding that her
son's school offer "a full-blown up apologism." And a growing number of
linguists argue that Bushonics isn't a collection of language "mistakes" but
rather a well-formed linguistic system, with its own lexical, phonological
and syntactic patterns. "

That doesn't necessarily prove anything unless he lived a long time
elsewhere. I was born in Utah, and lived for 4 years in Idaho, but
I'm much more characteristic of the typical Washingtonian.

If we're going to accept void's definition here, you're really just a big
poseur, and it's high time you got back on the path to being a good mormon.

Heh. Mormon culture as defined in Utah and Southern Idaho does not
equal how Latter-Day Saints live around the world-- and the world
membership is greater than inside the U.S., bucko ;)
I'm LDS, but I'm more like a Washingtonian Latter-Day Saint than a
Southern Idaho or Utah one.

Um, when did Clinton rape anyone? Even Jones admitted that, when he waved his
wanker and she said no, he put it away and drove her home. I think that's a
fairly strong accusation to be making without any documentation or court
findings.

While you're at it, be sure to lock up Clinton for perjury, sexual assault,
money laundering, etc...
