I can't tell you the lengths I go to avoid
having to contemplate piercings. Why must
these nightmarish images follow me to such a
nice place.

[Insert question mark at will?]

Do pierced ears count? Tell me so I can wear earmuffs to lunch
Friday if so.

what is interesting about echo is not so much that they censor
(because they do censor, and in an even weirder and more squeamish
way than they censor on the well) but that they are so indirect
and ladylike about it.

for example, i said to a woman who wanted to eliminate all literature
from education that used sexist language,
"my dear, i am sorry for the state of your thin and transparent mind."
and she took this as a personal attack.
and told the the hostie.
and then the hostie sent me polite email
"we do not like the personal attack on echo."
and i said
"who are you? a host? my mother?"
and the hostie mailed back
"i am a host"
and i said
"i do not enjoy parental behavior"
and she said
"do you understand how it was that your words were
a personal attack"
and that annoyed me, so i posted publicly thank you so much
for the parental email in which you spoke to me as though
i were a slightly thickheaded six year old.
and the hostie posted
i did not realize that politeness was patronizing.
well as you see there are many issues available for playing
with as a result of this exchange, and that does not even include
the bulldykes of village voice who may or may not have bad haircuts.
by the way, i have several lesbian friends so shuttup.
thank you.

Yeah, pierced ears...
It recently struck me as VERY STRANGE that I probably don't even know any
women that do not have pierced ears.

And my big (winter in MI) question is, "do earrings act as heatsinks for
your earlobes and make you colder?"

I make a grudging exception for pierced ears.

Speaking of piercing, someone has to do something
about humdog's manners. I mean just * think* of
the impression she's making on Echo. (Humdog,
at least tell them you're from the Well. Okay?)

Oh, yeah -- that'll explain everything. They'll be sure to welcome our
hummers then!

my manners, dear shannon, are Perfect In Every Way.
i do, however, reserve the right not to waste them on Idiots.

So much for Echo. Sheesh.

Earrings (I have 3, a modest number) can actually give you earlobe
frostbite in cold weather. A lot of women in snowy areas put
theirs on after they get to work. Or so I'm told.

I had some heatsink earrings I pulled from a pentium machine at one time,
but they were raaaaather hard on the ear lobes.

Do you intend to make some particle generator earings for the rich and famous?
Then you could move out!

I made some nanotech earrings. Just type in a selection on the computer and
the lil buggers will climb up to your ear, make a hole, and build you
custom designed earring. When you're done, they seal up the hole and go
away. Keen!

I tried to make Borg implants but they chafe. Besides, not too many people
were keen on having a Swiss army knife for a hand. Of course some people
thrilled at the thought of the accordion attachment. And synthesizer
fabrics aren't far behind. Get a crowd of those and have a walking orchestra
of dischord.

I suppose we could call it an accordion *arm*y.....;-)

I believe it was to be 'font'.

response 49 of 104: Mark Unseen   Mar 22 21:24 UTC 1997

Technically, Good ol' brenner is supposed to be the fw here.
However, she has not sent word that she want's to keep it.
