My Powerbook gave four (or was it 6?) beeps just as I read that. Was that
sent, or was it a coincidence (though there was no local reason for beeps).
I'm happy to keep this going if other players are, so
I am thinking of a 6 letter word.

Arrrggghhh! I forgot the word (and we had a clean up of the scrap of
paper i had it on - couldn't save it in a file here, though: that's
why there was a password breakin, you know :). However, I have
constructed a word that fits the clues to date, so here are new
word responses:

This game starts in #30 in Item 52 in language. The game responses are
listed in /u/rcurl/letter.match, and the game rules are in
/u/rcurl/lettermatch.rules
puzzle (or iq) is a good conference for this game. When this game ends,
I would propose freezing it here in language (which I presume will freeze
it in iq too, and start a new LetterMatch game in iq. (But then, we might
want to link *that* to language....hmmmmmm).

(I should add, for the newcomers, that we are playing the *6* letter
version of LetterMatch: the rules in /u/rcurl/lettermatch.rules were
written for the previous *5* letter, travelling, version. The algorithm
for the conversion of *5* to *6* is very simple - add one (*1*).)
