Heh....While we're off the subject, was anyone at the public library last
Sorry, Tonight, 7-7-93., when the bikercops came in and tried to break up
the small AIDS awareness demonstration?? It was comical, to say the least!
The AIDS people brought up solid points, so the cops felt threatened, i guess.

I was watching Community Access' coverage of the School Board
meeting when they marched in and started their demonstration.
The Board immediately went to a break and all the microphones
were turned off. Pity, I would have liked to hear their comments.

I was there. When I was going into the meeting, the activists were marching
out in front, but I didn't really think anything of it, because they do that
frequently. Then shortly after Public Commentary had ended, they marched
in very noisily, and started speaking, announcing that they had boycotted
public commentary, but were speaking then. She then gave a long speech
about the AIDS statistics, while only one Trustee, Cheryl Garnett (sp?)
stayed in the room. As they walked in, President (Ugh!) Marcia Westfall
suddenly announced "This meeting is in recess until further notice." and
then got up and left. At the end of the speech, the activists got a lot
of applause from the audience, were escorted out (but not arrested) by the
police, and then the Board members returned, pretending that nothing had
happened.
I agree in principal with the message that the AIDS activists were
giving, but this did not seem to be a good tactic. There is an established
public speaking time, which they could have used. One thing that they
really have to realize, is that this is politics, and some compromising may
accomplish more than nothing, which is what their current tactics
will accomplish. They may get more attention this way, but now if the
Board members do *anything*, it will not be finally doing something; it
will be giving in. If their response to the massive support for
Alternative education tonight is any indication, they are not going to do
that.
(What is this doing in the music conference?)

I made my own "Rush Hour" tape to play during the hellish commute from No.
VA to Washington DC. It's a mix of my favorite Rush songs (pun intended)
Great to jam to when you're gridlocked

(I've been listening to "Dre Day" for some ungodly reason. Probably
because I've been too lazy to get out my "Brothers Gonna Work It
Out" maxisingle. Before I started using a tape deck, though, I'd
usually listen to NPR, and that'd be on the way to school.)

while I was on my road trip, I istened to a couple of compilation tapes.
As far as albums go, I listened to _Bigger_and_Deffer_, _Straight_Out_Of_
Compton_, _It_Takes_Two_, _Moodfood_, _Goo_, and _My_Personal_Collection_Of_
Grapefruit_. I actually listened to a lot of radio, and I also listened to
the BBC's adaptation of the death of Superman. I actually cried while listening
to it.

I love listening to compilation tapes while on the road. I also
use them when exercising and on plane trips. I have made quite a
number of such tapes, though the last time I did one was about two
years ago. I have a bunch of notes for my next tape, though.
It's definitely more work to make a compilation tape
than to simply copy an album,

With my portable CD and cassette interface, I can use CDs. The real trick
is that with simple plastic CD sleeves to replace the jewel boxes I can
take 20-30 CDs with me in a package about 5x6x3 inches.
