Michigan Opera Theatre has MADAMA BUTTERFLY coming up starting next
weekend and Donizetti's DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT a few weeks
after that.

I'm a huge musical theater fan! I've seen "Phantom" twice, and "Les
Miz" once.... they were both great... then, this past week, I was in
London and I got a chance to see Lloyd Webberr's newest--->
"Sunset Blvd."I would hightly reccommend it!!!!
It was awesome.

Miles, Have you heard of the broadway musical 'Chess'? It was around in the
late 70's Tim Rice, Andrew Lloyd Webber, among opthers wrote it. One of the
best since Jesus Christ Superstar and Phantom. It's better than Phantom. And
speaking of chess, if anybody has it on VHS Tape (which I doubt) I would love a
copy. I don't think they ever sold any, but I'm sure somebody has a pirated
copy somewhere.

RE #29 Did Andrew Lloyd Webber write "Chess"? I knew that Tim Rice
wrote it, but I didn't know that ALW had a part in it... Which copy
of "Chess" would you reccomend? I have seen it Musicland, but I have
never been quite sure which recordin to buy. Anyone have any
advice? Thanks!

Miles, pick up the studio version. Not the broadway cast version.
They are both really good, but the studio version is 100's times better.
They are both totally differant also. Eacch album has about 14 songs that
arn't on the other one. Tell me how you like it.

Thanks... I'll try to get a copy over Christmas break.
What other musicals are you (or anyone else) interested in?
I can just about listen to anything, but Andrew Lloyd Webber is
my favorite. I also like the more newer musicals instead of the
older R&H musicals like "South Pacific" Just a personal
preference.

re #28- Chess was written by Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, the two "b"'s in
the disco group ABBA from sweden.

Welcome to Grex ruthie! Glad to see someone is responding to this item!
I have only seen Les Miz once, and it was just in St. Louis. However,
from hearing Terrance mann on BatB and in CATS. So, I can imagine that he
was good! Also, I would kill to see Glenn Close as Norma Desmond! I saw
Sunset Blvd. in London last November and it was awesome!! Have you heard
the cd? Because, she actually does a fairly good job IMHO.
