I find Weird Al entertaining, but I disdain going around telling others
that they, therefore, have to find him amusing. Although I do it
occasionally, I disdain acts of "Oh, you'll love this" or "Hey, this is
so great" or --worst of all-- "You HAVE to read/listen to this" for
anything at all.

(unfortunately, Weird Al tends to instill that sort of bullheaded
worship in some of his fans, albeit unintentionally.)
(I'm only speaking from experience. I'd rather believe that MOST
music fans aren't merely blind followers of a religion that musicians
hadn't intended to promote, namely one with said musician at the helm.)

I find Deadheads most annoying, myself. Although I met some pretty
fanatical Rush fans once, too. Don't these fools know that Todd
Rundgren is the Real, True and Only Godd?

(my experiences with fanatics usually have to do with U2, Depeche Mode,
Nirvana, REM, and the like. Decent bands that have been elevated to the
status of saints for no apparent reason save that the fanatic hasn't been
exposed to those who have influenced the very bands s/he/it idolizes. I
think it quite sad.)

I like weird al, but not enough to buy an album or anything like that.
I dig Mozart, and some assorted country artists.

Yeppers - "Achy Breaky Song" and "Good Enough for Now". The latter
is a generic C&W parody.

"Good Enough For Now" is really funny. Does anyone out there have a favorite
Weird Al album? I'd have to say that mine is either the "UHF" soundtrack
or "Even Worse". Speaking of "UHF", does anybody recognize the guy who
played Stanley Spadowski, the janitor?

(my favorite is easily "Dare To Be Stupid", although I only own the two
you mention as favorites.)

I have a parody of Achy Breaky called Itchy Twichy spot. I defy anyone
to listen to it without laughing out loud. It is done by Run C&W.
It is a silly album.

The janitor in UHF was played by Kramer on Sienfeld.
Hmmmm... favorite Weird Al? Maybe EvenWorse.
Although I especially like "Smells Like Nirvana." "A garage band from
Seattle/Well, this sure beats raising cattle."

Yeah, he's like 36 now. Maybe he should start doing Easy Listening now.
;-)
"Weird" Al and Vangelis: the duet you've all been waiting for.
