I noticed it was octal. I think I first saw it later in the same day somebody
pointed out to me that Compuserve numbers are octal. I hadn't noticed that
before.

Doh! Wow -- I noticed that the numbers were all made of digits and
sequential; if I noticed at all that 8 and 9 were missing, I figured
it was a typo.
Re 30: I'm going to enter an Agora item some time this week to talk
about it.... :)
