Although I hope it doesn't get abused, we could handle several
hundred inactive acocunts that people say won't be around for a while,
at any given time. Actually, the interesting question becomes how
long to let the account lie fallow once its on the dont-reap-now list.

Right now we're hovering around 7800 accounts on Grex, given a
90-day-and-you're-gone policy. Right now accounts used only once and
left behind haven't been killed very often before the 90 day period.

I think a reasonable policy is, if users indicate they'll be gone for a
while, and name a date that they expect to be back, that it's reasonable
to start the "90 day timeout" at that date in the future. I'd like to
propose we advertise just this in the motd, for students who are
departing for the summer.

And if we do it in time, we could also ask for (again) any additional
email address they may have over the summer - and tell them how
to get back here via telnet while they are geographically "away."
