If he comes, the rodent that is, I claim credit. We talked
"one Irishman" to another just now.

If you decree it, all Irishmen will bring their own shovels.
That would be both appropriate and useful.

That is true of thoughtful and considerate Irishmen only.
The analogy is to dog owners.

i have known several irishmen well, and have never
known even ONE to bring a shovel.
in fact, i would say that the impression that i got
was that not only did they think a shovel was not necessary,
but rather, that i was, while witnessing Presentation,
involved in a rare and unusual ritual denoting some kind
of Privilege...
this is true especially of sicilian-irish

I never bring a shovel. Why should I? I work with my mind -- a
superior implement.

Too easy a shot. Even *I* won't take it.

I have read much of the passing of Mr. Thomas Mandel, and I feel
the pain of those who knew him. I cannot count myself among them,
as he never made the transition from Well to Grex. I cannot honestly
then claim to miss him, but I do miss the chance to get to know him.

yes that is nice of you to say.
mandel was an elegant man, tall, mustached, prone to
the Armani suit, lovely dark eyes and magnificent manners;
and furthermore he was a Truly Evil man of the sort that
humdogs are prone to Admire; further yet, he could make
arguments and do philosophy like few people i ever met,
and sometimes, why, i believe once or twice he was even Right
oh yes, and among his many noble traits, he even liked Dante
the dog, at least in Theory (which is how many people
prefer Dante) he was a real Antidote to the all the Sweetness
on the WELL.
yes.
