Actually, having it anywhere in Michigan sounds like a good idea, due to the
fact that large numbers of grexers hail from the Ann Arbor, Lansing, and
Gaylord areas. Instead of having some'one' in charge, however, maybe a
committee (sp?) would be a better idea. :)

I'm perfectly okay with a committee running the deal, but we need to get
at least *one* person to volunteer before anything gets done.

I'll volunteer. If I can bake a loaf of bread, I can do this. ;)

Oh gee, well, I'd like to have this at a place that could be easily
accessed. WCC comes to mind, but I'm open to any and all suggestions.
That's Wastenaw Community College for all you out of towners.

What about fraternal lodges, they have bars! There's a new Elk's on Eisenhower
b. State & Main, phone 668-6663. Found it in the yellow pages under "fraternal
Organizations."

I agree with STeve. However, I would like this to be as low cost as possible
and room rents are really horrible these days. We could try to get some
thing from the UM if possible.

The two things we need to have is a space to do things, and some place
for people to sleep.

Well, if we did it in Michigan, it would rain on us. I trust that
to happen, given my previous attempts at such camping events. There is
nothing quite so nice as mud in a tent to keep spirits high during an
outdoor convention.

Can indoor convention areas be used as sleeping areas (for those with
sleeping bags)?

Us ham types have a name for that kind of thing-- It's called Fieldy
Actually I was thinking more of having this at a hotel that has
facilites, and electricity, and all that. I was also thinking of
holding this right around Grex's anniversary date.

We could get a picnic shelter in a park, and then even if it rained we
could stay dry. Of course, that would make it a little hard to set up
terminals, but I was under the impression that the point of htis thing was
to actually talk to people in person.

Yes, mark, that's fine. I'm sorry you won't be able to, and maybe I
won't be either, but let's not discourage them from actually trying to
make it work for the REST of grex, hm?
I am relieved to see that we are now seriously discussing this.

So am I. I'm sure a lot of people could carpool, considering some of us are
from the same areas? i.e. Gaylord, Ann Arbor, McKendree, Columbus, Lansing...
again...sorry about the lack of word wrap...i keep forgetting :(

When I went to camp, they transported the entire camp around in vans that
would seat 15 people each. Anyone own one of those? Or two? They would
certainly come in handy here.

Vans are expensive, but as long as the weather is warm we could probably
find some central place. I could haul a few from Gaylord. I got two
feet of snow in my yard righyt now. Any where warm.

Don't bother to explain the whether.. even meteorologists say their

Well, A2 is most probably a good place to start.. any good spots
there?

A carpool from McK would not be impossible, improbable, but not impossible.
I'd opt to get one of the Vans an drive up there myself with a group of happy
grexxers....I'm all for it!
(besides, greater chances to meet everybody and to spend more live-time with
dearie!)
