The response numbered two-hundred twenty-two is correct, which I suspect
merits celebration in an obscure African country. However, specifying the
introduction page in the web address, as in
http://www.geocities.com/penandinkcomics/intro.html
will direct users to the correct destination. I thank Eric for his
attention to detail, an attention that was apparently lacking with me.

Russ, what are you sanding?
Jim is happy because Terry from Detroit Edison called Saturday and said he
had made another trip out to Jim's yard and, so that Jim would not have to
leave his wall removed all summer until the garden froze so they could get
in with a machine to dig a hole for a 30' electric pole at the back of his
compost heap, they will make a special exception and put his pole in right
away instead of in 3-4 weeks. Only problem is that they already dug a third
of the 2' deep 100' long trench for the underground cable and the trench is
precisely where the machine for the pole has to go, meaning they have to
finish the trench immediately and bury the conduit so they can put in the
pole. Putting the pole in first would have made sense. Today is nice digging
weather. Monday morning they are meeting at the trench. Today we were
supposed to graft four types of plums onto the one that never gets pollinated.
Jim's solution - sleep late.

Well, not the sore part, but the fact that I got off my ass and walked a
couple of miles.

About 215 square feet of wood is covered with stain. The place
stinks of petroleum solvent, but the big job is done.

IHB me and my friend Kim are entertaining the computer lab, once again, with
our poor renditions of pop songs and show tunes. We take requests. We also
don't promise to know the words.

IHB- I had a great weekend- first with my mom and sis doing wedding
stuff, and then yesterday hanging out up in Lansing was a blast.
IARRHB- I just found out that my sister isn't the only sibling of mine
who is planning to get married in the Very Near future! My older
brother is engaged and he and his lady love hope to be married at the
end of June (again, no huge church wedding in the plans).
This is amazingly cool- I couldn't imagine a better woman for him- and
my entire family really likes her. <beams> I'm so excited to have her
as a sister-in-law! We all rather suspected they were engaged around
Thanksgiving (I think, either that or Christmas) because she was
wearing a ring on 'that finger' that looked like an egagement ring- but
then we didn't see it- so we were confused- turns out that apparently a
5 1/2 ring is too big(!) for her, so the ring is being resized.
Two sibs down, one to go!

The solvent fumes from the wood stain have dissipated to the point
where I can bear to sit in my living room again.
The results are just about everything I'd hoped for: my veneer
patches match quite well, and varnish is bound to make them look
even more like the wood right next to them. Even the part of the
plywood which was damaged by bleach and turned a sickly shade of
gray is barely distinguishable from the undamaged wood after a
good sanding and the "golden oak" stain. (Truly a beautiful
color.) If you didn't know where to look you'd have a tough
time finding it. It's worth the work.
And I got out on my bike again today. A lot of other people were
out too, but I passed most of them and was only passed by three.
Maybe I'm not as out of shape as I feared.

in shorts, and I can see stars despite room lights and window screen.
Damn, this is nice. Living on earth has its compensations, doesn't it?

Eeew. I think I am one of 5 people on this earth who doesn't like smoked
salmon.
Spent the evening hanging out with a girlfriend at a mediocre Mexican place
drinking Italian Surfers and talking about life in general. Balmy ride home.
Up too late - up too early - breakfast of egg whites and fruit and charming
conversation with Ryan, the guy in the cafeteria who is way too cute for his
own good.
