Well, lucky me. rcurl answered my test word only a few minutes after
I asked it, and I was still online to notice.
Now I think I know the word but (because no one can make two
consecutive guesses) I have to wait. Fooey.
Now's your chance folks, either I am confused and don't know the word
or else this is your last chance to beat me (this game :-) .

Get your friends to join in, Steve. Maybe you should have !talk someone
signed on at the time?

Well, it's 10 hours later and no one has guessed yet. It was not my
intention to stop the game when I was frustrated last night by being
prevented from guessing. I now realize that there are at least two
words that fit, so ... put on your thinking caps and find one.
Or , better yet, make a random guess :^}
Come on, somebody.

There had been no "guesses" for almost 24 hours. Either everyone was
away, or they're stumped. The "advantage" of the oral version of
letter.match is that it teaches one to use "guesses" as probes, to
identify letters in the word. This written version seems to lead
people to try to guess the *word* before they have all the letters
(and with considerable success, I will say, for well known words).

I admit I'm stumped. I can only think of two words that would fit,
but they're both Latin.

Don't try to think of *the* word: use test words to deduce the missing
letters.
