I apologize for breaking into the middle of the conversation, but can
anyone here pass a message on to Ms. Lackey? The reason I ask is a good
friend of mine attempted, awhlie ago, to get a meaningful response to some
questions about one of her series. The initial response was a simple thank-
you letter, totally unrelated to my friend's concerns and questions.
Baffled by this, she wrote again. The second response was very harsh,
and, rather threatening, to put it kindly. Ido not know who was
         answering her
mail; i do not know if the same party still is.
But, I thought that somehow Ms. Lackey should be made aware of this, as it
is a public relations nightmare. I know of several people who will no
longer read her books because of this. As no author would want to alienate
their readers, I doubt that Ms. Lackey had much to do with the harsh
responses, personally.

ummmm....elfman, (btw, welcome!!!!) i hate to break it to you, but last time
i checked, we weree not a direct line to m.l. in fact, we have no connection
to her at all. (correct me if i'm worng, folks! :) this is just something to
amuse a bunch of teenagers, and teenagers at heart.

and i firmly believe that whoever was answereing the letters was a little
out of control, and out of line. there is no need to be rude!

Umm, no- to my knowledge, none of us have any direct contact with Ms. Lackey.
Although I wish I did...

And yes, verbal, hope has alway been my strong suit.

Gee, Misty Lackey struck me as a sweet, gentle, slightly insecure person
with a lovely soft second-soprano voice to match. She's even a bit plump,
to make her that much more human. It's hard to imagine her being really
rude. Wonder what sort of questions were asked?

was she the one who wrote the letter, or was it someone else?
anne
response 209 of 281: Mark Unseen   Nov 9 02:14 UTC 1994

Yeah, I'm wondering if perchance someone else wrote the letter in her name...

response 210 of 281: Mark Unseen   Nov 9 19:43 UTC 1994

Somehow it doesn't sound like her. Still, I read for the books, not for
the author. I'd read Misti's stuff anyway.

response 211 of 281: Mark Unseen   Nov 10 03:22 UTC 1994

Actually, I'm quite convinced that she did NOT write the letters, and, as
such, I was trying to find SOME way of notifying her of what her letter-
people are doing. I'm sorry to see that this is not the place to contact
her.

However, I'm sure you can find a way to contact her through the internet.
Maybe a SF/Fantasy board?
