I wouldn't put Yawni...oops, Yanni <eg> with classical composers. Ick. Sorry
-- it's just that my parents were listening to him and James Galway <?> the
other day, and I felt like I was grocery shopping. ;-)

Yanni is good to sleep to. His music is very relaxing. and I like that.

(Scott doesn't like "relaxing" music. Scott likes "difficult" music.
Otherwise Scott finds it a waste of attention span.) :) :) :)

Well, I like Yanni and Galway both, but I have to be in the mood for them.
I find they are both great for background music...stuff that does not take
a lot of thought or attention span. Some of the great composers need full
attention and I can't always render them that justice. These other two are
relaxing when I am stressed, but still need to use my brain, so I like them.
Some of George Winstons stuff is like that, then some of his stuff is more
akin to the greats, as in it requires attention.

My trouble with music is all the years I spent studying it. Now I can't have
background music, since I'll end up listening to it instead of being able to
concentrate on whatever I intended to do.

I'm currently *loving* The Verve Pipe.

I love the emotion in Filter's "Nice Shot."

I like the music of Alanis and have the CD.
I think that "Ironic" is very depressing if
one listens to the lyrics.

I love so many different kind of music . . .

Wow, the Verve Pipe *did* get big, or at least semi-big. They are originally
a local band from E. Lansing, and I've done sound for at least a couple of
the local bands various members were in at the time.

<grin> I'd heard that they were from East Lansing. They played live on a
radio station here yesterday, and did a show at "Galaxies" which,
unfortunately, I missed.

Hard to keep that good music down. 8^)

That "Seet Lover Hangover" (er Sweet) by Love and ROckets is stuck in my head.
I love love love it. I cannot find the single anywhere! Maybe a few more
weeks...

Was watching MTV Alternative Nation with icky Kennedy the othern ight. Heard
a song where some woman screams "EVERYTHING's FINE!!" at the top of her lungs.
A true example of my psyche if there ever was one. Wish I knew what the
group/song was.

"Too Much Love" is playing... and I'm trying to figure out who sang it (this
is something I got from my parents; not sure what it is)

Dang! I was always bemoaning the fact that I had never had the opportunity
to study music...maybe it wasn't all bad missing out on those studies if I
am better able to enjoy it and use it for relaxing purposes.

response 213 of 255: Mark Unseen   May 21 22:35 UTC 1996

Oh, I can enjoy music, and I do it quite often. It just means that I have
no tolerance for "easy" music.
freida
response 214 of 255: Mark Unseen   May 21 23:39 UTC 1996

Still, "easy" music plays an important role in my life that I would not want
to give up...
scott
response 215 of 255: Mark Unseen   May 22 02:04 UTC 1996

I should point out that there is a difference between "easy" and "relaxing",
it's just that too much "relaxing" music is excessively "easy". Good relaxing
music does exist, and I have some in my music collection.

Tracy Bonham is wonderful! I bought the cd after listening to
"Mother Mother" and the rest is just as cool! (IMHO)

I don't know what my first tape or CD were, but my first LP was either The
Archies or The Partridge Family. (I didn't listen to the radio much, back
then, can you tell?)
