Yeah. I didn't understand much of it.

I'm not much of a bowler, but I think I got the gist. Not a ball I could use,
though: I don't have much of a hook. I want something that will follow a
straight line. (Picking up the ten pin by riding the edge of the channel is
my favorite trick.)

I bought a ball from the pro shop at Bel-mark about two years ago. I paid
around $160 for a decent ball that I'm pretty happy with. Since I'm not a
particularly serious bowler, I don't expect to have to spend that money ever
again, so it seems like a pretty good deal to me.
Around the same time, maybe a bit earlier, I bought a wrist brace. Now
*that* was one of the best sports investments I've ever made.

Hook. That's the right word for a ball that curves, I think I was
calling it "break" on Sunday. Mark was trying to develop some hook to
his ball.

re #178: Are you going to join us sometime, flem?

Why is a wrist brace a good investment?

Because keeping your wrist straight by brute force is hard work and a good
way to strain something. Ever notice how many of the pros wear them?

I'd love to join one of the bowling expeditions, but they keep being
inconveniently scheduled. I'm not generally free on Wednesday nights or
Sunday afternoons. :\

When would you suggest, Greg?

Tuesdays and Thursdays are usually pretty good. Mondays could be worked with.
Fridays and Saturdays are likely to be poor for the rest of the summer, at
least.

I used to measure and drill balls in the Sports Department of Rinks when I
was in college. Nothing like measureing, alighning, and then marking adn
drilling a good bowling ball.

Yes, Eskarina, there are people who make money bowling. Just like people make
money golfing. I used to watch in on television now and again. Often while
having breakfast after bowling on a Sunday morning.

I work until 8:00 on Thursday, June 27, but could come after that.
John will be with his mother that day.

The guy who runs the pro shop at Colonial Lanes is actually a semi-pro bowler.
His name is Ed. He's a nice guy, willing to give out pointers if he's not
busy.

response 192 of 217: Mark Unseen   Jun 14 22:26 UTC 2002

The next scheduled bowling outing is Wednesday the 19th. Unfortunately, I'm
not sure if I can make it. I hve to decide if I'm going to Chicago that
day, and if so, find out what time I'll get back.

Is anyone else planning on bowling on the 19th? Mark, would you mind
terribly if we bowled without you, assuming there's interest? Which
bowling alley?

Yes, I'm expecting to be there, and will be bringing my 6 year old son
along (provided he's not against the idea of going bowling that
evening, which would surprise me).

I got together with Brooke last night, and she asked me to remind
people she'll be at the Cubs bowling alley tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7.
Mooncat, she specifically mentioned she hopes to see you there.

do remember now and have completely rearranged my schedule to be there!

<ponders running off to get film so she can take photos of this
event...>
