Robert Urich.

Blind internet users would not agree that designing web pages accessible
without graphics is a waste of time - at least not of their time. But the
two browsers which did NOT work at one page were graphical, and the text-only
one (lynx) DID work.

Yes, Robert Urich died. Did he make any theatrical movies at all?
He was pretty exclusively a TV actor.

IMDB lists 78 professional acting jobs for Urich. The theatrical releases:
Magnum Force (1973) Officer Mike Grimes
Endangered Species (1982) Ruben Castle
The Ice Pirates (1984) Jason
Turk 182! (1985) Terry Lynch
Jock of the Bushveld (1992) <no character name>
When Animals Attack! (1996) Host
Angel of Pennsylvania Avenuee (1996) Angus Feagan
Clover Bend (2001) Bill

Of those, I've only heard of Magnum Force and Turk 182!, and only seen Magnum
Force. I don't think he was one of the corrupt cops (but I don't remember how
many there were... I remember Hal Holbrook, Tim Matheson, and David Soul as
bad guys, but I know there was at least one more).

Oops. Those guys sure look a lot alike, don't they?

I don't think so. OTOH, I think Wagner's wife (I forget her name... my wife
has her cookbook) and Stephanie Powers (Wagner's fictional wife on Hart to
Hart) are dead ringers.

I thought Urich was an okay Spenser in "Spenser for Hire", but
Joe Montegna is a better one in the more recent A&E movies.

Ice Pirates was a great movie. <grins>

I think Robert Urich was just in an Animal Planet movie, Night of the
Wolf or some such.

Robert Wagner's wife is Jill St. John.

Actually John, I didn't think either of them were good Spensers. The only
casting that I totally thought was dead on was Hawk.

Yeah, Jill St. John. It's weird how much she looks like Powers. I'd say Wagner
had a fetish, but wasn't he also married to Natalie Wood(?), who looks like
neither of them.

Hmmm.. Death and taxes strike again.

Apparently former Supreme Court Justice Byron White died yesterday.
He led a remarkable life. How many people manage to play in the NFL
*and* serve on the Supreme Court in their lifetime?

I'd see Wagner has a fetish for women.

Re #184: I thought that Spenser, Hawk, and Susan Silverman were
all well cast in the A&E movies. Nyah nyah.

It was his cancer that killed him, right?

BTW, Robert Wagner was formerly married to the late Natalie Wood.

I should track down those A&E movies. 'Twas Urich's series that introduced
me to Spenser, so I have hard time seeing Hawk as anyone BUT Avery Brooks.
(The "Hawk" spinoff series was deserved short-lived though: had nought to do
with Parker's Hawk, IMHO.)

The A&E movies I've seen have been extremely faithful to the books
and quite well done.

I thought Urich had beaten his cancer.

Apparently not. He made a good fight, though, didn't he? He was
working even during cancer treatments.

He had it beat for a little while, but then it came back.

To me, Avery Brooks will always be Hawk. When I read the books, Spenser and
Susan are fuzzy - but Hawk is firmly etched in my mind.

Avery Brooks was great as Hawk. I feel the same as you do, Brooke.

Avery Brooks is a very good actor. Then again, he has advanced degrees
in theatre and was (maybe still is) a drama professor at some snooty
east coast school, IIRC.
