I have this odd feeling that we've had a pseudonym nominated for the
board. I can't for the life of me explain this feeling, except to say
that I keep thinking of sock puppets now.

A definite article is not appropriate at this time, as a pseudonym has
not presently been identified. I understood Marcus to refer to a past
incident, but I leave it to him to clarify.

suggestion...one thing that could be done is take the list of nominees
and cross check it against the attendance list for each board meeting of
the last year or two. and say of this set number of meetings, whatever
is a good number, who has attended and participated in the highest
percentage? I assume that those who regularly go to the meetings are
well aware of who's been going and who hasnt, but most of the other voters
arent going to take the time to dig up old board minutes. they might not
realize of one person or another has been far more involved than
somebody else. you can take attendance at board meetings as a sign
of committment and its reasonable to take that as a strong factor in
voting.

O, would that were true! I'm amazed at how many Board of Education members,
for example, never attended a meeting before being nominated. (In Ann Arbor,
they do tend to show up now and again between the filing deadlinee and the
election.)

I entered item 67 about board meeting attendance. It doesn't have
information about non-board members, but you can get that using the minutes
command.

resp:162 :: I'm not the authoritative voice here, but I think
pthomas has not met the membership requirement listed in resp:0
in order to run for the board; he's not listed in the output
of the !members command or in the treasurer's thank-you item
in Agora. So unless there is a membership payment being processed,
I think Phil has 11 hours to establish himself as a member.

OK, the deadline has passed without pthomas becoming a member, so he is not
eligible to run for the board. All the other candidates are members in good
standing.

And the vote program is now up and running for the board election.
Telnet and dialup users: Type "vote" at a Unix shell prompt, or
"!vote" at almost any other prompt, to enter the voting booth.
Once there, you can see the candidate list, read their statements,
and vote if you wish.
You can do all of the above on the web as well, by visiting
http://cyberspace.org/cgi-bin/pw/voting-booth .
You can modify your vote as many times as you wish.
The polls close on December 15, at midnight.

I recognize that this item is not the best place to make this particular
suggestion, but I believe it would be useful to set up an alias in Picospan
that would call up the vote program. Requiring an exclamation point
to preceed the command in Picospan seems unnecessary.

Re #181: I disabled the program for a few minutes to correct a
mistake on the ballot. It's back in business now.
Re #182: I agree, it'd be nice. I guess 'i' would be the person
to address the request to.

Also re #181: You don't have to vote again unless you want to
change your previous vote. I emailed everybody who'd voted so
far (7 people) about the mistake (Joe Gelinas was accidentally
left off the ballot), so you should've received that mail.

hey just though of something...what happens if there is a tie in
the voting? say, since four new new board members are being elected
and there is a two or three way tie for fourth place? is there
a runoff election or would the current board vote for the final board
member among those tied?
