IHB I rode the Amtrak to Detroit yesterday which was nice because it
was something not in my routine. But I am mostly happy because I took
pictures of my house from the train. Oh my, I feel like some kind of
house geek or something. *snort*. I am also happy because I found this
really neat shop and I bought a hand colored b&w photograph of my old
highschool *and* a book full of Coleman A Young quotes.

Where were you prior to Milwaukee?
I'm pleased to be back home following a reasonably easy drive from St. Paul
immediately subsequent to a wonderful overtime NCAA hockey championship game.
I still have most of the day left to do all the homework I've put off.

IHB I haven't felt despairing, panicky, or actively inclined to do bad things
since Thursday morning. And because I was finally proactive enough to do
my taxes, with financially comforting results.

IHB we had a great time at the baseball game, even though the Brewers lost.
We also had a chance to hang out with Dave's sister and her boyfriend when
we got into Chicago. It was a great day, despite the sleep deprivation.

IHB I was mistaken about my first reason for being bummed in response
171 of the bummed item. I missed the event I wanted to be at, but the
only penalty was an emotional one (anger).

My "dining room" no longer has chairs, a table, or anything else
you usually find in a dining room save a chandelier. The top of
the table leans against a wall, the legs stand in a corner.
The space is occupied by two hulking open-faced boxes, seven feet
by three feet by one. Nail holes have been cleaned of the wrong
color filler and filled with the right one, and I've tested a
scheme for repairing damaged veneer that I've been thinking about
for almost two years but hadn't had the chance to try. It works.
Tomorrow sandpaper hits wood, and I'm happy about it.

IAVVHB I've just realized, my graduation from college on May 3rd is not in
any danger and I've got smooth sailing for the next month to a Degree in
Criminal Justice. Along with a potential job in Rapid City, SD in the shadow
of Mt. Rushmore :) Life is good.

IHB Dave and I are looking at grad schools in the Pacific northwest,
San Francisco/Davis, Milwaukee, and New England. We're leaning toward
Seattle, Portland, and SF/Davis for various reasons. It'll be a fun
adventure since we both grew up in Michigan and have never lived
anywhere else.

IHB I managed to wash my car last night, do laundry, dye two shirts (although
I don't think it took very well) and watch some hockey. (God forgive me, I
almost rooted for the Rangers.) And, I grilled a ton of chicken, so I have
food for the next few days.

IHB I am now the proud possessor of four of the old five-ton IBM
keyboards, one of which is still pristine in its original box and
plastic wrap. Now, if the five-ton IBM keyboard currently attached to
my computer ever breaks, I will be able to replace it.

Those old-school IBM keybaords are still the best, aren't they?
If you think they're heavy, though, track down the keyboard from an
IBM 3270 terminal. I think they still have them at Detroit Edison in
Ypsilanti. Look for the keyboards with a bizaare surplus of function keys,
which, to the best of my knowledge, are seldom used by the hosts they connect
to.
IHB I ran into an old friend of mine at lunch, who's still punk as
hell.

Those "PF" keys are going to have application specific functions with
mainframe applications that know about 3270s. There are plenty of
mainframe applications that know and use those PF keys. MTS, when it
was around at UM, made fairly heavy use of the various PF keys, to
emulate a windowing terminal, and in the MTS visual editor.
