Good point. Catholoics don't hear much about Lilith, so I had forgotten her.
(I was raised Roman Catholic.)

There are countless ways of interpreting all the stories regarding
the creation of people. Adam in hebrew, means "humanity", and it was
created to serve the Adama, the female word for adam, meaning earth.
i really prefer that interpretation...and Lilit and Aestahar too...

Reading this I understand God created Adam (humanity) first,
and after that the earth (Adama)?
What does Eva mean in this light?
Btw,
I am not a christian nor anything else.
I am, myself, a humanist and think peoplke are the resulkt
of evolution.

Think of Genesis as a fairy tale. A fairy tale told and
eventually written down by men.
Does that make it any clearer?

(However, Harold Bloom believes that Genesis and other early
books of the Bible were written by a woman.)

The hebrew for the name known as "eve" is Chava. It is from the root for
"life." So, life was created from the side of humanity.
Basically, adam(humanity) was created either without gender, or as both.
It then split into male and female.
ai prefer to look on the bible as an allegorical text with a lot of
hidden meaning. Any idea is only what you get out of it, anyway. ai have
found that ai cannot take what was handed me in synagogue and elementary
school the way it was given. ai have to interpret it all for myself.

The student infirmary at Dartmouth College is called Dick's House.
Actually Richard Hall's House, but familiarly called Dick's House by
the students.
