Look okay I'll drop it but I was making reasonable points, but noone
wants to consider them. I mean you would think with the drop in
conferencing activity on this board over the last couple of years,
staff would want to consider what would make regular users (as opposed to
fw's and staff) more comfortable.

But all I get is ridiculed. So whats the point. Try and start a
genuine debate on the conferencing atmosphere and all you get is one line
sarcastic responses from staff who'd prefer to forget the item. Maybe
this was one little point that I got carried away on but this was a good
item, touching on things that needed discussing. But since noone seems
to care, why the hell should I....so now I'll shut up. I'm not a villain
and I dont want to make anybody's life miserable with my posts in this
conf, which I thought were constructive.

I'm freezing this item because its not worth it anymore. And I'm
going to leave coop for now because its clear to me that nothing can be
discussed critically here without risking accusations of personal attacks.
I'm one of those who you'd call a conferencing nut, I've used bbs's of
one sort or another going back fifteen years. I like the setup here and
I thought the perspective I had might be of benefit.

But the atmosphere is too cliquish here. You wonder why some of the
people who used to read coop dont anymore (like Sidhe for instance) Its
because there is a pack mentality here and its too difficult to discuss
things without getting attacked and having your motives questioned. The
concerns I raised were genuine and yet I'm accused of carrying out a
vendetta and wanting to punish other people in the process.

That was never the case but its not like I could get any of you to
believe I was sincere anyway. So I'll confine myself to the regular
confs, where I can actually enjoy my posts instead of having to defend
myself contantly from personal attacks. I just wanted to help make
things better on grex but it doesnt seem to matter.

This will be my last coop post (Hold the applause until I'm gone)

This fw has just unfrozen the "what is a fw" item. Granted, there were
several drifts that were handily contained by respondants without the
impositon of fw authority (i prefer that approach) and the topic is
gremaine to how Grex runs day-to-day - - which i consider to be
worth of being, adn staying, open to discussion. (2% situation)

Being a fw, and discussing the options versus the context, is a slightly
political position. Not on the order of, say running for political
party delegate to the convention, but political nonetheless. Political
leadership warrants an inherent posture inviting challenge. Too often
(imo) that posture/position generates attack rather than discussion
or even argument, however, all three are part and parcel of the position.

I, as fw, am truly pleased that other respondants recognized the
need to re-focus the "what is a fw" toopic without the appearance
of some heavy-handed fw stomping on a current discussion.

I do notice the introduction, above, of the "Secret Cabal of Grex"
from it's previous incantation, "Inner Circle." Whether or not I
believe that either the Cabal or the Circle exists, this coop conference
is directed to be a *level responding field* as it relates to Grex's
everyday business.

Personally, I do not want Kerouac to "go away," here or elsewhere.

There are dozens of ppl reading and not responding, which is fine, who
are benefittting from the contributions even if they do't pop their
thoughts into here .......perhaps for apprehension about being
challengedm, or perhaps because they recognize a "more able spokesperson"
who is saying their thoughts for them.

Both fw-ing and responding take a thicker-than-usual skin, and kerouac,
himself, has occassionally directed vitriol at me, one of the fw of coop.

That in no way minimizes the contribution of having "what is a fw" as
a coop item.

Therefore, it is now re-opened for discussion, QED.

I have always thought Kerouac raised some legitimate questions - regardless
of the answers provided by the conventional wisdom here. Re-opening the item
is wise. Kerouac, don't leave too quickly, you got one of my marbles in there
somewhere!

My comment about Kerouac restarting the item was in reference to the
other item that he froze, of which this was a continuation.
That he froze this one as well is even more tedious of him.

Okay, I'm not leaving. I posted that last response in the heat of the
moment. However, I froze this item because it drifted too much and I felt
that (mostly my own fault here) that anyone who reads this item now is
going to go through all these arguments and bickering and will not see
the importantance of the larger issues being discussed.

I started this item. It has my name up at the top of it. If it is
a reflection on anyone it is a reflection on me. It was my choice to
end this item and to hopefully encourage discussion of the issues herein
to continue in another item, with a fresh start. There is no way
anyone reading this from the start now is going to be able to find
their way through the bickering. And when staffers (popcorn, remmers)
indicate they have /forgotten this item, it just tells me it has outlived
its usefulness. So let the discussion continue elsewhere.

I'm re-freezing this item and I would ask the fw's to respect my
right to do so. It is not TSTY 's name at the top, it is mine. I simply
wish to end what I started, and I believe if I originate a document,
I should have the right to decide when said document is finished.
