There was a great article in the Freep a few weeks ago comparing hockey and
basketball (back when the Pistons were still in it). One quote I liked:
"You'll never see a hockey player giving an interview in a shower cap.
You'll never see a basketball player give an interview while bleeding."
I'm a relative newbie (been cheering the wings about a year and a half) but
I make up for it by being *really* obsessed. :)

It is all atrick. They are just playing dead to lull the wings into a false
sense of security, then they are going to STOMP THEM INTO THE ICE ON THE WINGS
HOME TURF!!!
Be on our guard there guys.

Game 4 is always the hardest to win, but the Wings should be well motivated
as the Cup will be IN THE BUILDING.

i'm hoping it's just because maybe that previous overtime left them with
little energy.

One reason, I thikn, the rivalry isn't as bad is that Claude Lemieux was
traded from the Avs.

Oval- I'm sure that did take a lot of energy out of them.

I watch most of the games at home, but for the saturday games, I've been
meeting with a group of friends at Gallaghers (sports bar at the corner
of State and Ellsworth)

I've only started watching the games, so home is where I've been
hanging out.

When I was home I was really impressed with Damon's, and sorry that there
weren't any games for me to watch there. Then again, my parents don't have
cable so watching at home isn't an option, so much...they don't even get
very good local reception. I'm not quite clear on why they bother with a TV.

I just noticed that this item is named "The 2001 NHL Playoffs".
And yet all along we've been drifting and discussing the 2002 NHL Playoffs.

Well, technically it IS the 2001 playoffs, since this capped off the
2001 season, right?

No, it's generally referred to as the 2001-2002 season. But it most
definately is the 2002 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Hmm . . . I always though that if the season began in that year, that
the playoffs followed suit. It makes sense to me either way, though.
