How exactly do you taint lying about an important matter?

Explain the situation, Bruce. You mean the War on tERROR?

The White House said on October 29, 2003 that it had helped with the
production of a 'Mission Accomplished' banner as a backdrop for President
George W. Bush's speech onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln to declare combat
operations over in Iraq. Asked if Bush had misled people by appearing in
front of the banner, McClellan said "the Navy put it up and it was the Navy
at the -- asked us to take care of the production of the banner. And we said
that yesterday."

This Administration has no accountability for any of its actions that involve
harming US citizens. We get dragged into these wars on hearsay and
cherrypicked intelligence. Then, lemmings like Bruce call all dissenters
"liberal left". I guarantee my lifestyle is more conservative than Bruce's.
The big difference here is that I'm willing to engage political topics that
question the integrity and accountability of our elected officials. Rather
than ever getting a decent rebuttal based on countering data, all I get is
"left wing" "liberal media" "enemy of freedom" "hate america" playground 2nd
grader dismissals.

Right now, Scooter Libby is requesting a year's worth of classified info in
order to distort the prosecution by forcing a lengthy censorship of sensitive
information. Cheney leaves his buddy Libby out to dry and keeps his mouth
slammed shut. This Scooter guy that backstabs the CIA claims he was under
orders -- Dick Cheney is obviously whom he refers.

I remember the "Mission Accomplished" banner, and always thought it
symbolized that the Carrier's mission was accomplished as it was on its
way home.

The White House was very clear when it states ALL MAJOR combat operations were
over in Iraq. It was not about the Lincoln's job there but about the War on
tERROR.

I daresay you were in an extreme minority with your interpretation of "Mission
Accomplished" then. It certainly doesn't jibe with what Curious George said
in his speech, and the hard-core Bush voter I watched it with didn't see it
your way either.

response 125 of 218: Mark Unseen   Feb 18 22:17 UTC 2006

It jibes perfectly with the revisionist spin that was put out as a talking
point once it became abundantly clear that the mission wasn't accomplished.

Let's talk about Nigeria(Lagos) and Venezuela cutting Shell's nuts off.
Is it because of oil depletion or is Team Evil Axis recruiting for the big
ass kicking of the USA economy?

response 128 of 218: Mark Unseen   Feb 18 23:13 UTC 2006

Shell is a Dutch company. How does that figure in?
tod
response 129 of 218: Mark Unseen   Feb 18 23:26 UTC 2006

It figures in that 1.5 million barrels of Venezuelan oil a day go directly
to the USA. They're the world's 5th largest oil exporter. It figures in a
BIG way. Katrina will look like a mosquito bite compared to how bad it would
affect our economy.

Syria has the WMD now. They were shipped there via stripped out civilian
airliners at the behest of SAddam. There is documentation to that effect.

I caught the round table of "Meet the Press" yesterday. Mary Matalin, David
Gregory, Maureen Dowd and Paul Gigeut (editor for the WSJ). I personally feel
much of the Dick Cheney fiasco has been overblown. That being said, something
Matalin disclosed truly bothered me. She said that the group of hunters had
basically gotten together to exchange facts so that one statement could come
out of it. The fact that this came from Matalin's own lips was somewhat
incredulous to me.

I think the whole deal about the whitehouse not notifying the entire
world of what was a non-government activity is overblown. However, I do
not feel the same about the firearm mishandling by Cheney. I think he
got a pass this time because of his position.

I have no issue with them not immediately informing the press - I do have an
issue with them "getting the story straight".

I think that this has served two purposes: to show how the White House really
doesn't want people to know what it's doing and to detract from things that
are of true importance.
