WAIT guys; why is john remmers ONLY allowed to use his initials in the
MOTD, whereas Joseph Gelinas (user gelinas) proudly displays his full
loginid ?!

Nominations for the Grex Board of Directors are now CLOSED. Nominees have
until the start of voting on December 1 to decide whether to accept and to
get their membership status in order. See Item 207 in the Coop conference
for related discussion. -jhr

Grex was down on Saturday, November 27, for a disk backup that failed.
                                                                - gelinas.

And why does gelinas get an extra space and period?! Looks like just another
case of favoured users for favoured people to me.

IIRC, I put the notice of the backup in the MOTD on Saturday or Sunday.

We try to keep the MOTD down to a single screen, roughly 23 lines. With the
addition of the birthday greetings (which I don't see, BTW) and other things
in people's .login/.cshrc/.profile/etc files, that may be too much. Still,
we do the best we can.

Still, I _could_ have remembered this item earlier than I did. I'll try to
remember to use it, should there be a next time.

News flash, mynxcat: YOU are one of the annoying ones. YOU are part of
the problem. I invite you to re-read this conference, concentrating on
the responses from "mynxcat" and consider them as a third person. *JUST*
this conference; no need to torture yourself with your reponses in agora,
 present or past, nor international.

The polls are open now through December 15 for the Grex Board of
Directors election. For more information or to cast a ballot, run
the "vote" program -- if you have tty connection (dialup, telnet, ssh),
you do this by typing vote at a Unix shell prompt or !vote at
most other prompts. Or you can do this via the web at
http://cyberspace.org/cgi-bin/pw/voting-booth .

Any user can cast a ballot, but only the votes of members in good
standing will be counted in determining the outcome. If you have
questions about your membership status, email the Grex treasurer,
aruba@cyberspace.org.

You can change your vote anytime before the polls close by re-running
the vote program.

I had to change the file permissions on my home directory. My statement
should be readable now. Thanks Cindy!
