re:#95. Dear old Spartan. Although you may think that DJ's program the music
that they play, you are absolutely mis-informed. I don't know where you got
that idea. I myself am a DJ at an adult-cto me, I'd play music I enjoy. I have
to sit there and think of semi-witty (but not too funny) quips to blurb out
between Mariah Carey and Micheal Bolton songs for minimum wage. Unfortunately a
person entitled the "Music Director" or "program Manager" gets to decide what
is played based upon the station's particular format, and the mighty Bilboard
ratings. So, Spartan, it is not DJ's that suck, it is the people who listen to
radio and enjoy Ace of Base, etc. that make radio play what radio plays. I'm
not saying I agree with it, it's just the way it is.

I'm sorry, Kevin. I know that you're right, because I have a friend who
is a DJ at a local radio station. He hates half of the music he plays,
but he still has to play it. I didn't mean to offend you guys, because
I really respect the stuff you have to put up with when the program
director gives you the day's playlist. I'm sorry, because I should have
known better.

John, may I call you John? Hey, that's cool, I didn't mean to go off on you
or anything, I just sometimes wonder where some people get their ideas about
radio and DJ's. They take all that sh*t too seriously. It's just business.
In fact, at the station I work(ed) at, we've had 3 general managers in
the last month. Everyone is VERY nervous. Everyone is just waiting for the
axe when their air shift is over. It's sad, we already lost a local
liberal talk show host, because the new management is right wing and is
expanding the hours we carry Rush Limbaugh. No one in this area enjoys
listening to that weeble. This new dude has no clue. He's from Saginaw,
and thinks he knows the Muskegon market. Like I said, It's sad.
Oh well I get to go back to Central in 2 days and quit at the station.
Thanks John for responding, I was hoping you would.

I find The Doors music extremely annoying. Am I alone?

(probably not. I don't share the same sentiment about the Doors, but
I can see why you'd come to that point of view. I really enjoy their
music, but I like a *LOT* of music.)

Hey!! is anyone still alive in GREXLAND??? It's been a while. I know I have bn
off for over a week because I was moving into school, but if you guys weren't
doing that, you have no excuses. As far as annoying music, this is what I feel
like bitching about now:
John Mellencamp & D'nacgeloogazuntite- WILD NIGHT
            Anything by Nine Inch Nails
The new "If I WAS A Carpenter" release (These songs were bad enough
                                                    the first time!)

Please, if you can hear me... grunt or something, I guess.
Happy Labor Day fellow Grexers!!

Bobby Goldsboro, "Honey". See the tree, how big it's grown.....
That's about how far it gets if I have any control over the radio.

Don't listen if you don't like.

It's a definitive answer to the problem, i've found.

Something called "Mannheim Steamroller." I keep hearing their
version of "Deck the Halls" on TV. It's a preposterous
electronic arrangement that I guess is supposed to make
you feel like you're starring in a TV commercial for a
shopping mall, or perhaps a more interesting version of
your own life.

Yeah... I geuss that's right.
Christmas music is starting to become the worst and most annyoing music.
I work at Meijers, and they just pipe version after version of every
possible Christmas song into the air. It's driving me
nuts.

response 118 of 134: Mark Unseen   Dec 2 18:53 UTC 1994

The most annoting music is R. Kelly. For 5 minutes all he does
is repeat one sentence over and over in a wierd howling whiny voice.
And he's sold millions of records.
Subliminal Messages maybe...I like r.kelly... I like r.kelly

Re 117- That's what my sister is saying. She works at Meijer, too, and
perhaps is contemplating breaking the music system. I for one, enjoy
christmas music, especially, "O Holy Night".

What gets on my nerves is the sickeningly sappy Born-again Christian pop songs.
(NOT gospel) Plus most country music. How do people feel about Muzak in
department stores, elevators, dentists,...? THAT's annoying. (ps: Whoever
dissed Rush may an anvil drop on your head)

Yeah, seriously, I *like* two-bit Canadian groups.
