plork and anne, what do you plan to discuss in the fantasy conf? if books,
(anthony, lackey maybe), then I think it would fint well in the sci-fi, esp.
as many authors do both genres.

Perhaps games? movies? Our own fantasy elements?

in response to both 100 and 101- well, yes. We would most likely have items
on books, and also games- movies... and us... Some of it would fit into
Sci-Fi I agree, but not all of it.

Hm. Hadn't thought much about WIN fair witnesses. I don't expect the
conference to need a lot of fair witnessing. Maybe we'd want a fw from
each member organization? Maybe not... that sounds like a lot of
fair witnesses. Since the conference is hopefully going to be linked
to M-Net's WIN conference, maybe it would make sense for me to start out
as the fair witness, since there will be special technical considerations
for a linked conference. Once the conference is up and running, no longer
needing technical babysitting, I'd pass the fw job on to someone else.
That could be decided within the conference.
Would that work?

Valerie, the fantasy cf or the WIN one? I hope the former, as I personally
don't know enough to set up a shared conference - or has that part been
dropped temporarily?
Um. I'll mail plork with a couple of questions, & set fantasy up in the
next day or two, probably.

M-Net has already created their WIN conference. Does it make sense to
start seperately and then link, or would that cause problems bring the two
conferences in sync?

We haven't figured out how we're going to link them, so I think we
should set up a WIN conference as a normal conference for now.

In #105 I meant the WIN conference, to be set up as a non-shared
conference for now, and linked over later. I'll hold off on entering
the first item 'til I know if that will botch things up for a later
link between conferences.

OK, I'll mail you & get it set up, sometime soon. Sorry - I realized after
I'd put foot in mouth which one you must have meant.

Hm. I thought it was limited to just ascii smileys, but I haven't
been there in months, so maybe they've branched out.

I hereby withdraw any real or perceived opposition to the fantasy cf, with
the caveat that plork learn to hit return at the end of each line !! :-)

How about a combined ASCII Art & Smileys conference, since they're related?

It's been over a week since Misti proposed the Amiga conference. As I
understand it, the policy is that, barring objections, the new
conference should have been started within five days. Not only
were there no objections -- there was no discussion at all.
What gives?

It was probably forgotten in the shuffle, and I think the the requestor
is supposed to reaffirm the request after the discussion period. Which
your response pretty much does, so I bet it'll be here soon!

Just an oversight -- beacuse there was no discussion, no reminders
popped up that the conference had been proposed, so the people-in-
charge-of-creating-conferences forgot about it, most likely.
Now that you've reminded us, things will proceed. Which cfadm
apprentice wants to do this one?
(The 5 days isn't a hard-and-fast thing, just a rule of thumb.)
