There's long-term hope for an ISDN connection...I wouldn't exactly call
it a plan at this point :-). Grex's staff is working on speeding the
system up a bit, as we move from a 68020 to a SPARC processor soon.

Yes Todd, there are plans to get Grex upgraded to some
better things, once we install electricty in the Dungeon
(the home of Grex). ;-)

Wouldn't it be safer to run the system on compressed air?

In addition to the hardware upgrade, there's also discussion
of updating the interface. See item 70 in the this conference,
"Let's talk about a GUI for Grex".

Seeing as COOP is now over 100 items and this edition is over
six months old, how 'bout re-starting it? Time for fall 95 coop!

At the FWs' whim. But this is the 7th edition, & so we seem to have
averaged between once & twice a year, nearer twice.

Um. In #107 s/whim/best judgment/
Ok? (Being FW mostly seems to mean not that you get to do stuff but
that other people get to complain about whatever you do or don't.)

Re: 109 It's like being a T.A. You get the answer keys but you also
have to explain to the students how to do their homework when they have
no clue since they don't get the answer keys.

Well, be careful. Grex has been know to spike the characters it
transmits with addictive substances. You are already showing
the first signs . . . :) Welcome to Grex, Debra. It gets worse. I
mean easier. How does that go?

I am new to Grex. I am interested in volunteering to help run the system.
I have a master's in library science from the U of M, and a backround in
the internet including some UNIX skills. Can someone tell me how I can do
this? I would also be interested in visiting a board meeting. Thanks.

Welcome to Grex Eric. Best thing to start with is to read
this conference, and Agora. That way you'll see more about us.
We'll post the next board meeting well in advance, in about 3 weeks(?)/

Welcome to Grex, Eric. We'd love to have you come to a Board meeting.
The next one will probably be on Weds. 11/22. You just missed one.

Ditto the welcomes! There's a lot that goes into running Grex,
from details like chasing stray quarks and gluons to higher level
things like web page maintenance. Reading this co-op conference,
getting to know users, and attending a board meeting are all good
starting points at figuring out where you might want to help.

Oh, speaking of the next board meeting: it's scheduled for the day
before Thanksgiving -- a terrible day to try to have a meeting.
Can I interest anybody in moving it to the Wednesday a week earlier?

I think that would work for me. Then again, the night before Thanksgiving
would probably *work* for me, but I use the term loosly.
