Well, its my hope that we'll be either at the dungeon already or in
the process of dropping other stuff off before getting there.
More details after I talk with with other staff.

At this point, thankfully, I think we're all set. (Though more blankets
wouldn't hurt. But you contributed 40% of our blanket collection, so
you're decidedly off the hook for that!!) We also still need a garbage
can and a volunteer to paint a mural. But both of those can wait....

As I understand it, eeyore and I will bring hot chocolate and
cookies at 9 am to the dungeon. Unfortunately, neither of us
know where the dungeon is, or if it's really the dungeon that
we're supposed to bring goodies too. If someone could *please*
call me at 761-2680 before 8 am (or at 913-0234 afterwards) and
let me know where we're supposed to go, it'd be appreciated.
I'd hate to see such great cookies go to waste. ;)

I reached Carson; he and eeyore will bring stuff to CE.
Neither of us has been able to contact eeyore....

I must say, this is the only moved I've ever attended where I
gained weight. Thanks to all the people who brought things over
for us to eat!

(the crowd slowly rises to their feet, as a thunderous applause begins to
grow) Thank you movers, planners, & staff. By all appearances a job well
done. I'll say "hurrah, hurrah" but not: "encore, encore". You've
answered the riddle "what is needed for the move?"

I regret that I didn't make it, but I woke with a very bad case
of nausea, and spent the morning in bed, wanting to hurl. Fortunatly
I'm feeling much better now.
Sorry if I let anyone down, believe me, it wasn't intentional.

Good work, everyone that pitched in! I was thinking of you carrying our
*lives* (on disk) through all that ice, but obviously it was well done.

I'm sure I'll miss somebody, since there were so many people, but here's a
list off the top of my head:
steve, popcorn, carl, ken, srw, gregc, carson, eeyore, mdw, aruba, jingle,
kentn, leann, tsty, scg, and I think I heard that fireball stopped by,
although that was at a point when I wasn't there.
Thanks to everybody who helped, and appologies to anybody who I
missed. There were a lot of people involved.

I'd like to thank all those grex hams that "stood by" during the move in
case they could help. As it turned out, all we did was provide radio
checks for two other hams. Thanks and 73s to WB8WSF, KT8K, N8KPL,
N8FQH,and AA8IJ.

You also provided reassurance -- STeve heard some of you on the radio
and we were glad you were there, standing by.

Great job! (although I stopped by...the only help I really offered was to
distract people from what they should have been doing :).
On a side note: did we ever find someone to paint the dungeon?

Nope, no muralist yet.
Hey, if anybody has spare carpet scraps they want to get rid of,
the dungeon could tentatively use some of those.

Three cheers for the moving crew! It looks like a spectacularly
well-run job.
I'd have to recommend against carpet for a computer room because of
the potential for generating static electricity.

*That* is an excellent point. We can find truely non-static
carpet, but we won't find in someones pile of scraps.

Jan 24 05:40 UTC 1995 |
Actually, considering the fact that we have a metal desk on a concrete floor,
we really don't have the conditions necasary to build up a static charge.
Any old piece of carpet should be just fine. I'm also not talking about
*wall-to-wall* carpeting here, just a couple of 3'x3' scraps.

I have a big roll of carpet I am prepared to donate; but I got the feeling
that the prevailing mood was anti-carpet. Has that changed?

response 124 of 130:

Jan 24 09:01 UTC 1995 |
Probably not. We could use an area <as he moves his chair out
of the way to measure> about 3 to 4 feet wide and about 6 to 7
feet long. This would let us keep the chair on the carpet. If
it were wider, we could even keep the area where our feet go
a little warmer.
