Whoa, that was a surprise - I figured pagoda was right. I'll try to come up
with a word.

OK, I'm thinking of a 6-letter word.

From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) [web1913]:

  Shote \Shote\, n. [AS. sce['o]ta a darting fish, a trout, fr.
     sce['o]tan. See {Shoot}, v. t.]
     1. (Zo["o]l.) A fish resembling the trout. [Obs. or Prov.
        Eng.] --Garew.

     2. [Perh. a different word.] A young hog; a shoat.

While 1 may not be properly pluralised with /s/, 2 can be. ;)
