At last, after five and a half years -- an intelligent response!

Quoi?

response 6 of 57: Mark Unseen   Feb 21 01:14 UTC 1997

Define 'intelligent'
(For that matter, define 'response'...or 'five and a half')

response 7 of 57: Mark Unseen   Feb 21 10:53 UTC 1997

Intelligence is the ability to make other people look like
idiots.

five and a half : age at which a child resents being labeled as "only a
five year old" but looks silly saying "I will be six next year"

Thank you, lee. You have given meaning to an otherwise meaningless existence.
Admittedly, it's only the existence of the phrase 'five and a half' that
you've given meaning to, but it's a start...

Hey, I had to do something. Sometimes nobody comes into this
conference for months at a time!

I wonder if there are any Grexers who were not yet born when
Grex started up.
lee
response 12 of 57: Mark Unseen   Feb 27 02:01 UTC 1997

That depends... when did grex start up?

response 13 of 57: Mark Unseen   Feb 27 13:58 UTC 1997

Hmm.. one year after grex started (plus about 3 months) i got on.. scarry.
lee
response 16 of 57: Mark Unseen   Feb 28 02:41 UTC 1997

Was grex born one a specific day or over an entire month?
remmers
response 17 of 57: Mark Unseen   Feb 28 14:06 UTC 1997

There was one specific day in July 1991 when it opened to the
public. (What was that date again?) So I guess that's the day
it was born. The founders had a little party to celebrate.
Believe I brought some champagne.

Gestation period was about 6 months.

response 18 of 57: Mark Unseen   Feb 28 21:26 UTC 1997

Champagne for grex?
<lee chuckles at the thought of the Sun's that grex runs on asking for
champagne>

As traditional with a birth event I would've passed out cigars,
except that the Grex founders are a notoriously puritanical
bunch of non-smokers. Then too, it would have been audacious of
me to claim fatherhood, as Grex was conceived and gestated by
a 12-person gestalt somewhat reminiscent of the one in Ted
Sturgeon's _More than Human_.

re #19
Nope.. i was the person causing problems between the 1st and 2nd
years.. sorta like the terible twos.

Re: #20 You could have gotten those chocolate sticks shaped to pretend to be
cigars.

Hey, you're right. Wish I'd thought of that!

response 24 of 57: Mark Unseen   Mar 2 23:03 UTC 1997

Wow...I don't even remember when I joined grex...I mean, it's sort of hard
to imagine *not* being part of grex.
Shouldn't someone put grex's birthday into the automatic birthday wisher?
