Grex Recital
|
Mar 10 13:50 UTC 1996 |
Are there enough people on Grex who either play an instrument,
write poetry, sing, or whatever, that we could pull-off a
Grex recital? I'm know of a possible location that is comforable
and comes with a piano. I see this as a low-key kinda thing
between friends and not advertised outside of Grex. And in the
spirit of a recital it would be free.
So, would anyone be interested in doing a short gig?

Poetry I can handle, just don't ask me to sing. :-)

Deal.
For every poem you recite you won't have to sing a song.

I might be up for this, even though I havn't performed in public in about
22 years. Any ideas on a format?

Actually, I don't think it looks like enough interest to pull this off. I
was thinking we'd need at least 10 people willing to perform. That's
perform not just say they'd perform.
So how about we let this ride for another year when I'll ask again and see
what interest there may be?

re:#5 Perhaps you give up too easy. I notice the music cf is pretty inactive.
Maybe an announcement in another venue on Grex? Besides, I'd like to hear
you both play.

I'll ask for a link to Agora. I would MC the thing but spare
you all my rendition of "When Cellos Go Bad".

Linking it to Agora is an excellent idea. I am ashamed to say
how many items I'm behind on, in music.

I'll do a turn on the piano. (Let's find a place with a really
good piano.)

personally, I think this is a wonderful idea... :) If a recital is out, could
we combine it with a sing-a-long? I'd sing along with anything that I even
partially knew... ;)

My performing talent is pretty much limited to lecturing, and I don't even
do that very well. However I'd love to see this.

I'd love to come and spectate. If there's another one of these sometime,
and I'm back in practice, I might even perform.

I'd also love to come along, either to view or participate, but I think the
swim across the Atlantic may prove too much. ;(

Ah, yes, the didjeridu. Sure, that is even easier than guitar. Although I'd
likely do both.

I guess the date would have to be worked out when we have a
good idea of who all is interested in performing. As to the place
-- well, churches quite often have meeting rooms with decent
pianos. Music teachers make use of them for student recitals.
Something like that would suit this venture pretty well.
