Best Album Survey Mark Unseen   May 25 20:39 UTC 1994

OK- so I've been beaten to write a survey for the top 5 Cd's to take
to a desert island... so I'll raise the stakes. The following scenario
may be a bit far-fetched, but bear with me...

Sometime in the future, you have been appointed leader of a nation.
Any one you want- it's hypothetical. As part of your new administration's
policy, in the tradition of this nation you must designate a series
no- excuse me- a musical statemment that will serve as the royal theme-
the highest honor that can be given to a mucisian/ band.

Basically- what is your all- time favorite album? No cheating-
box sets do not count as one album, you may only choose 1 CD/tape/lp etc.
A difficult descision, I know- but it has inspired me to listen to some of my
albums very closely to try and decide which one is supreme.
Of course, no album is supreme above all others, but indulge me. <-disclaimer

I forgive you your almost repeat of my earlier conference...

I would have to say after INTENSE scrutiny of my record collection that Pink
Floyd's "Wish you were here" would have to represent my motherland!
Spent boucou bucks to get to see them this july, supposed to be well
worth it though!

Thanx, juggler.

Must participate in my own survey...
A year ago, I would've said "Houses of the Holy" by Zeppelin.
Now, with my testosterone rock phase complete, it's a tough choice...
Overall after much deliberation-

"Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis

True, one cannot really sing along to this album, but I have experienced
enough eye-opening revelations while listening to it, sober and high
on a wide range of illicit substances that I am convince that it is
pure brilliance. And to think that I sneered at jazz a year ago...

I don't have a personal suggestion to enter for Utopia's jingle
but I was very pleased when Australia made Waltzin' Matilda their
national anthem. How incredibly unpretentious.

No way, I had too hard a time narrowing it down to five!

(now, wait, grimace isn't really asking for a favorite album, simply one
that makes a good musical statement to live by.)

Supernatural by the Stereo MCs. Humility, humanity, and a groove for a nation.

I can't even narrow it down to twenty.

if response #6 is true I'd pick Pink Floyd's, Dark Side of The Moon

Yeah, that's a good one. Maybe one of the Hendrix albums?

I'm having second thoughts myself- my own survey is a bitch...
Perhaps Paul Simon's "Graceland", I'll have to listen to my
cream of the crop albums closer..

Although my favorite album changes with my mood, I would have to
say that overall it would be Another Green World by Brian Eno.

I'm having a difficult time deciding between "Ghosts" by Japan, "Avalon" by
Roxy Music, "Wish You Were Here" by Pink floyd, and ...oh bother!

Maybe Elvis Costello's "Imperial Bedroom". Maybe Alice Cooper's "Alice
Cooper Goes To Hell". Both because of the writing (don't laugh!) and
both because of the variety of musical styles on almost every track.

Actually, if I wanted a statement I'd probably pick TMBG's
'Lincoln'.
But I'm sure that isn't what you people are looking for.

(it is! it is! That's why I picked the album I did!)

You know, I used to like TMBG. Then something in me just snapped, and
now I can't stand them. What happened?

You're a big purple blob. You tell *me* what happened.

I admit, _Flood_ and _Apollo_18_ didn't have quite the high
weirdness content that made me fall in love with _Lincoln_,
but I still like them. And I'm looking forward to Their
new album in August.

"Misc T", my first TMBG albumn, was rather weird.
"Flood" is kinda the trademark albumn, but a true fan has to love
"Lincoln" in my opinion.
