I've been listening to Al since I first saw the video for "Ricky"
on MTV back in 1983 or so. I have all of his albums. I am a geek.

Weird "Al" Yankovic is most assuredly NOT the son of a polka star.

Dad is Frankie Yankovic, with plenty of polka albums to his credit.

I thought I had read that there was no relation. But maybe one simply
doesn't want to admit to it.

IN YO' FACE, RIZOR!!! HA! THEY ARE IN NO, er no way related, as abovely
stated... Frank Yankovic will live on forever as the "Hey hey Ba-ba-rooba!"
guy, but didn't Al's dad make cars, or nose-spray, or something in sunny
California....
Maybe not cars...
THIS IS NOT A PSEUDO, VIDAR... this is my real name.

Actually, it is impossible to categorize his music as anything other
than satircal since he bites every other category.

if this item is supposed to be praising Al, then why are so many of you
bashing him? Weird Al is nothing less than a genius.

(Right now, the only two Weird Al songs I can stomach are "One More
Minute" and "Yoda". I can't consider myself a fan anymore, as his talent
has gone into the crapper.)
("discuss", not necessarily praise.)

I hardly think his career has gone to the crapper, but then, I have no
musical taste. Today I purchased Pigface, Traffic, and Saint Etienne in
the same handful.

(Saint Etienne sounds like the only one of those I might *buy* [I bought
both the CS and CD-5 of "Only Love Can Break Your Heart"], but I can
stomach the rest, I'm sure. I can even stomach Weird Al still, until I run
into a fanatic who thinks Weird Al is God's gift to comedy.)
(I have that problem when I run into fanatics of ANYTHING.)
