Bummer! Mark Unseen   Dec 23 05:54 UTC 2005

Feeling verklempt?

When you're down or something's ticked you off, it sometimes helps to
talk about it. Tragedies, frustrations or just plain angst.

Bring your lows, unhappy news, and annoyance with bullshit here.

Just remember, take your frustration with fellow grexers outside, and
charge admission.

My aunt and uncle (who I was never really close to, not really) are coming
over for supper in a few minutes.

I'm embarrassed about meeting them 'cause I'm not really, you know, DOING
anything with my life right now.

No work, no school, no pretty girl, no projects, no nothing.

I want to FEIGN SICKNESS and just stay in my room.

I'll be faced by a similar situation tomorrow, when I'm supposed to go see
EVEN MORE family, and it won't even be in my own house!

OH WELL.

Whoa!

I ended up showing my uncle online poker, and we ended up having fun, I guess!

He even said he's going to look into it for himself, so hey!

re #3: I'm sorry to hear that, jep, that sounds like not a lot of fun.

I hope the broken engagement is a) only temporary (maybe until the kids get
older) or b) for the best, in that you both agreed you were not the best
match. I also hope you are taking this okay, jep.
Tim, what happened to your family? Won't you see any of them this week?
I went 12 years without seeing any family. I have good neighbors instead.

Did talk to several siblings this morning. But no visits, no gathering
for family meal. A couple are down in Texas, one is further away from
the rest of us up on Mt. Clemens, while another has gone into hiding.

No pre-Christmas gathering with SF-convention family either.

Did you get to visit your mother this weekend?
My closest relatively geographically is in Rochester NY. I invited three
neighbors over to a potluck and one had to visit his mother but the others
came and we feasted on food mostly give us by the absent fourth, who
volunteers at a food donation center and takes home leftovers there. We had
restaurant-made soup, cheese sauce on organic-whole-grain-linguine, broccoli,
neighbor's pickles, pumpkin pie with oatmeal crust (a friend keeps sending
me what he thinks are expired cans, this one marked use by 2007), and juice
left by a band, and wine. Both my guests had something in common - they both
drink wine and coffee. The moral, don't feel lonely on a holiday, invite
someone over who you think might feel lonely. The absent fourth stopped over
just before everyone else to make sure I did not want him to deliver a whole
cooked dinner - I said wait a few days.

My fiance and I have reversed the end of our wedding plans, and decided
to go ahead and get married on January 21. (I know, the Bummed item is
a weird place for this kind of announcement.)

re resp:11: Her daughter had one spinal surgery a few days ago which was
a diagnosis and a little initial treatment. She is tentatively having
another surgery on January 13. I am not too familiar with the details,
but we are all hoping for the best. Thanks for asking.
