This year's Grammys were quite entertaining, for the first time emphasizing
performances over the awards. Quite a list of performers too, from Madonna
to U2 to Paul McCartney to Mariah Carey to Sly and the Family Stone to Bruce
Springsteen. Even a tribute to Wilson Pickett at the end with Springsteen
doing "rock to the midnight hour"

How's Sly looking these days? I didn't hear good things about his set
but I'm glad to hear he's got it together enough to perform in public
again. His is not a happy story (though it should have been..)

News stories are reporting that Fox's "American Idol" clobbered CBS's
Grammy Awards shows in the TV ratings. "Idol" pulled 28 million
viewers while the Grammy show settled for 15 million, just a bit over
half as many viewers. Grammy TV ratings are down 33 percent over two
years.

re #2 Sly was mumbling a little bit. He obviously hasn't performed in a long
time, still has plenty of charisma though, and the "Family Stone" backing him
was fine, in particular Joss Stone, who's quite talented in her own right.

I can't wait for the RIAA to try to blame this on all the bittorrent sites
sharing DIVX videos of the Grammy broadcasts.. :-p
