Co-fw for the International cf Mark Unseen   Dec 3 03:42 UTC 2003

As fw of the International cf, I'm afraid I haven't done a very god
job. Most of it is lack of time, more than anything else. While I do
believe that the International cf can become one of great importance
to this community, especially with the non-American users, if
positioned right, I neither have the time nor the ideas at this point.

I would like to have naftee instated as co-fw of the International cf.
I think he has the drive and energy to help make the cf what it could
be. I've not had much time to devote to it, and I expect he has the
time and the ideas that could help to make the cf a success.

While I'm aware that this doesn't require a vote, I use this
oppurtunity to request cfadmin to make naftee co-fw along with me. If
there's something else I need to be doing, let me know.

You need to get me to be FW.

As I mentioned before, I would be glad to co-fw the international conference.

Since it's an internal change in the International Conference, and
not a matter affecting Grex as a whole, there's really no reason to
bring this up in Coop at all. Best place to discuss it is among
the people actually affected, i.e. in the conference itself. If
there's a concensus that it's okay, email cfadm requesting the
change.

Right, the item should be entered in the International conference, with a
reasonable comment period allowed. Once the stated comment period has
expired, if there is consensus among the conference users, an email to the
cfadm is all that is needed.

How long is "reasonable" for the comment period? Can I link this item,
or should I create a new item?

I think linking this item over would be fine.

REasonable is whatever the activity in the conference would indicate is a good
length to allow most users to sign on (if everyone comments once a day,
"reasonable" may be 3 days; if they comment once a week, maybe 3 weeks).

This item is now linked to International. Please use this item to
discuss whether you have any problems with having naftee as co-fw.

Also, I'd like to say that I trust naftee to treat this oppurtunity
with the respect and responsibility it is. I personally think that he
would do a good job, and would make a good fw.

I don't think he'll make a particularly good fair witness, but I'm willing
to let hiim try in this conference ("international").

Thank you.

I'll definitely resign from intl if naftee is given co-fairwitness
responsibilities. I doubt that it matters much, though, as I haven't really
been an active participant.

response 13 of 46: Mark Unseen   Dec 4 19:28 UTC 2003

Mickey, I wouldn't want you to resign. I hope that you would give
naftee a fair chance, before deciding to resign. If you feel that he's
made the cf unbearable, I hope you'd voice your opinion, and maybe
then consider resigning if the situation did not improve.

naftee'll be considered a good FW by any standard.

Guys, I'm not going to treat a responsible job irresponsibly.

Just out of curiosity, who is/are the conference administrator(s)?

The cfadm is i (not I).

It should be noted that when naftee briefly FW'd the asddsa conference on
M-Net, it was one of the most popular conferences on either Grex or M-Net.
mynxcat
response 18 of 46: Mark Unseen   Dec 5 11:48 UTC 2003

FWIW, I for one trust naftee to take this job responsibly. I would
take responsibility for his actions but I'd like to talk to him real-
time before I take that step.

(And I do NOT want the International cf o down the path asddsa did.
I'm not looking for popularity, jut a cf we can be proud of.)

Exactly.

response 20 of 46: Mark Unseen   Dec 5 19:31 UTC 2003

I object to naftee being FW of the International Conference. There's simply
not enough activity to justify having two FWs.
mynxcat
response 21 of 46: Mark Unseen   Dec 5 19:39 UTC 2003

I don't have much time to devote to international. I think there could
be more activity if someone could help with it both in terms of ideas
and time.

response 22 of 46: Mark Unseen   Dec 5 20:14 UTC 2003

Re resp:20: I don't think that matters if naftee is willing to put in
the effort. It's not as if we're taking time away from some other effort.

Re. 22: It does, when naftee's a known system-abuser. There's a HUGE
risk of serious damage being done to Grex, without any benefit whatsoever.
