Grex Board of Director’s Meeting, October 27th Mark Unseen   Oct 28 02:50 UTC 2003

Attending: mary*, other*, lhbunkie, gelinas*, remmers, flem*, mooncat*
and aruba*.
(* = board member)

1, Opening gavel: 7:00

2. Treasurer s Report- delayed.

3. Staff Report/Next Grex Update: Remmers and Gelinas attended the
recent staff meeting. There was discussion regarding Next Grex and it
was decided that a 3 month timeline was reasonable.

Kip is going to set up a web Bugzilla to track the progress/problems
with setting up NextGrex.

There wasn t a discussion of changing the location of NextGrex from
JanC and Valerie s home to the Pumpkin. Janc will be installing the
most recent release of the OS.

Kip was also trying to finalize documentation of mail- Cross has been
doing some work on his own. Cross will be leaving us at the end of
January for at least three months- based on the timeline NextGrex
hopefully will be up and running by that time.

Gelinas has been working on Pine, but the work will have to be redone.
Packet filtering is as ready as it ever will be.

2- Treasurer s Report: In September we took in $287 and spent $425-
another loss, our bank account is down to $3,80. There were three new
members in September.

In October we have so far taken in $545 and spent $424. There have been
five new members so far for October. There are 82 members, 81 are paid
to date.

Our Centrex account expired 10/21. They did switch the next day, so we
are down to four lines. Initially a trunk hunt was not set up for the
first line, but was for the other three. That problem has since been
fixed (after Mark called SBC today, Mary and Other tested the fix at
the meeting).

Clarifications: the Grex bank account has been droping slowly over the
past couple years. The membership took a sharp decline about two years
ago- going from around 100 member to right around 80. Since that time
membership has been holding steady at around 80.

5. Schedule next meeting: We came up with three potential dates:
        Tuesday November 25th, 7:00 pm
        Tuesday December 2nd, 7:00 pm
        Tuesday December 9th, 7:00

The meeting will be held, as usual, in the Kid s Room at
Zingerman s Next Door.

6. New Business: None.

7. Meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm.
16 responses total.

All of those dates work for me.

Zing's had our first choice of dates available so the next BOD meeting
will be on Tuesday, November 25th, 7:00 pm, in the kid's room.

Cute, Anne. That ? in the item title was in response to my
question about whether it's a directors meeting or a director's
meeting or even a directors' meeting.

See what fun these thing are and don't you wish you were there? ;-)

(I somehow missed that discussion. It's a "Board Meeting", and the Board is
"of Directors")

I'm inclined to agree, that it is a "Board of Directors Meeting"

Somehow I, too, missed that discussion.

Do you have connections to Grex at the Kid's room? You guys take your
laptops there?

There is a wireless router which Zingerman's may make available (for an
as-yet-undetermined cost).

THe answer is yes, other and sometimes others bring their laptops, but no,
we have never had a connection to Grex during the meeting. But it's
possible we could get a connection, as Eric suggested.

I was confused, because the minutes said something about mary and
other testing the hunting capability. It sounded like it was tested at
the meeting.

They used cell phones. Both dialed 971-3000, one after the other, and both
got simultaneous modem tones.

Actually the wireless access at Zingerman's Next Door is free. You have to
ask nicely. Elph Morgan is taking care of it.

Jared Mauch has a nice form available at
http://wireless.nether.net/zing.80211b that you can send to Elph.

I've sent a quick note inquiring about access.

Since "$3,80" could be a European way for writing "$3.80", that could have
been a serious matter! :-)

Heh, gladly it was just a silly human trying to type too quickly who
erred.
