Hostile Takeover Mark Unseen   May 10 13:39 UTC 2005

Hey, want to know how to increase Grex's assets?

Buy 10 or so $15 m-net citizenships, and then recall the arbornet board of
directors, and elect grexers to the arbornet board.

The arbornet board hasn't met since the last annual meeting in May of 2004,
and hasn't bothered to hold the required elections this year. They can't even
seem to find the time to appoint an election committee.

Not that anyone will run for election.

So, who's up for a hostile takeover?

Near as I can tell there aren't more than 5 members in good standing, if you
exclude the lifetime patrons like kite and meg and mike, etc..

C'mon, it'd be fun.

Ric, where's the rackmount you promised Arbornet?

For the record, I approached Rex on the topic about around the time elections
were supposed to be arranged but he was completely unavailable. My
understanding as of recent is that he's been in NYC on a bike tour.

As an aside, I made sure Arbornet's NonProfit Corporation annual update was
filed with the state so we're still good in that arena. (I donated the $20
and stamp to file it.)

I can't do much at this point to compel Rex to assign a committee but I have
sent him messages to read item 397 in the policy conference over the past few
 days.

At this point, if I were given the authority somehow to initiate a campaign
committee then I would do so.

One thing that is not being addressed is that Rex has done a good job as
sysadmin for M-Net. We should be diplomatic to ensure we're not pissing in
the punchbowl i.e. that we don't lose a good sysadmin in the process of
changing the guard from old to new. A few folks like ric and twinkie are
waving their arms frantically about what lazy bastards run M-Net but I've not
seen either of them trying to contact anyone before their blustering in BBS.

I hope ric and/or the lazy bastards who run M-Net are waving their arms
frantically about what an ass runs M-Net party.

I wish m-net well but I don't see how this touches upon Grex.

I am disappointed in ric for entering this item. I think it's in very
poor taste, and is not funny in the slightest.

I fail to find the location and context of this item anywhere near to being
a "joke" considering the dire straights in which ric has elevated his concerns
elsewhere.

We could merge the two organizations but I dont know how either
organization would gain from that.

I suppose that any group could pony up the $15 per person and then
stack the Arbornet board if they wanted to for just about any purpose.

But then I have to ask...why?
