Question your gender
|
Feb 17 19:53 UTC 2005 |
Hi,
I recently created this account. When I did so, it asked me for my gender.
Believing and understanding that no true distinction between genders is
possible, and therefore that I don't have a true and distinct gender, I
responded with "none". The newuser programme responded with something
insulting like "wrong answer" or "stupid choice, bucko", and said (in a
sarcastic way) that most people are either male or female.
Well, nope.
I'm not.
Why does Grex wish to discriminate against me on the basis of my sexual
identity? If I understand the Laws of the Prestigious Dominion of Canada
correctly, this would make entities of the corporation libel in various ways
under Canadian laws, especially since it was coupled with something that, as
far as I cabn understand, can only qualify as hate speech.
I request that Grex CHANGE its policy of discrimination and hate crime in the
service of the outdated and outmodded gender binary.

Re. 1: It doesn't FORCE you, but it doesn't allow you to choose anyhing but
m or f.
Re. 2: I don't see what my GIGANTIC PENIS has to do with this.

It shouldn't even ask if you don't want to answer.

True the newuser program seems to assume that no users requesting
logins are hermaphrodites. Just remove the gender question.

Should you also remove all the other questions which are more invasive
and personal than the gender question, such as birthdate, name, etc?

Re. 0: Get over yourself. Even if you are Androgenous, you would still
tend to exibit traits/personality that lean more towards male or female.
Just pick whichever yous does and move on. It's hardly worth getting
into a tizzy about.

The false distinction between malness and femaleness, and the idea that some
things of ourselves are inherently feminine or masculine, is a piece of
hoaxmanship that has been used to oppress about half the human population
since the beginning of existance, and I will have no part in it.
