response 4 of 24: Mark Unseen   Sep 25 23:22 UTC 2003

It was originally created by Rob Argy (login "ajax") and basically donated
to Grex. I don't know what the copyright status might be.

I think jp2 should just fucking use it and who cares.

re 4 If it's on the GreX website, then the copyright is assumed to be owned
by GreX.

Unless of course the ownership is explicitly stated.

Who the fuck is going to do anything about it?

Grex did protest an organization's claim that it was "in partnership"
with Grex and displayed the logo on their website. Details would be
in Board minutes from about four years ago. There was probably Coop
discussion as well.

Regardless of copyright, that logo should probably be treated as a trademark.
I assume Jamie can be more pedantic about trademark law than I can, if he
wants to.

The question, I guess, is whether the trademark is valuable enough to us
to be worth $300.

response 16 of 24: Mark Unseen   Sep 30 13:12 UTC 2003

Actually, what I meant to say is whether the *logo* is that valuable to us.

I'd be interested in registering the trademark, and the names at the same
time.
