Minutes from Grex Board of Directors Meeting, November 19, 2004
|
Nov 23 23:45 UTC 2004 |
Present: aruba*, bhoward*, carol, drew, gelinas*, mary*, slynne*
(*=indicates board member)
Treasurer s Report: Grex is in the black for October. This is the first
month since March that we didn't lose money. We took in $499.30 and paid
out $377.81 which puts us +$121.49. We had two new members in October.
There are currently 67 paid members. This time last year, there were 79
paid members.
Staff Report: Nothing too much to report. gelinas has done two reaps and
noted that there were some long time users on the reap list which he
removed so their accounts are still here. tod's modem is with kip. The
last backup was completed in September. There has been some progress on
NextGrex. We don't have a good list of what needs to be done. gelinas is
working on packet filters for next grex. bhoward is going to look at it
to see if there is anything he can do.
The next board meeting will be Friday, Dec 17th at the Remmers's house.
Co-Location: We need to have a decision made by the end of January as
that is when we need to notify our current landlord of our plans. We can
probably save money by moving right away even if we have to pay rent at
the pumpkin until the end of our lease. We would not have to pay
insurance if we were totally vacated from the pumpkin. There is a lot of
stuff there though. We reported to the city for property tax purposed
that there was around $5,000 worth of property in the pumpkin which
includes $1,069 worth of spare parts and $825 worth of obsolete
equipment. We could store some of this in a private person's home if we
had to and otherwise dispose of anything we no longer have a use for.
slynne has volunteered to go there and throw everything in a dumpster
but this would be a last resort if no one were willing to sort things
there into keep, sell, and recycle categories. gelinas is going to
contact provide.net for more information for our next meeting so we can
discuss this further.

One of the questions asked at the meeting was about the things still needed
to move to the new machine. The current state is described in Item 105,
Response 277.

Maybe. It would be nice if we could get some money for the stuff in
Pumpkin.

given the issues mentioned in #0, did anybody there express a willingness to
take over the treasurer's duties from Aruba? This is like the worst possible
time for somebody else to be taking over the books, but the timing is what
it is. Actually it would be cool if Polygon became treasurer (though Im sure
he doesnt want to), because how impressive would it look if grex's treasurer
is also the county commissioner :)
