Grex Board of Directors Meeting October 22, 2004
|
Nov 1 03:52 UTC 2004 |
Attending Board Members: Mary, Gelinas, Slynne, Aruba, and Mooncat
Attending non-Board Members: Remmers, JanC, a visitor
1. Opening Gavel: 7:15pm
2. Treasurer s Report: In Sept. we took in $301.30 and spent
$377.03; there were no new members. In October (as of meeting date) we
had collected $432.00 and will be spending the same $377.03 out. In the
black for the first time since March. 1 new member in October, 70
members currently, 67 paid up.
3. Staff Report/Next Grex Update: Next Grex is very nearly done,
as far as base needs to go live- according to JanC, a couple more weeks
and we should be there.
a. Currently there are a few members who are bug testing NextGrex,
and Jan is fixing the problems as quickly as he can after getting
notified of them.
b. Mail program- may be iffy at first as far as spam is concerned-
at this point we re not totally sure what spam filter will be getting
used.
c. Need to get some people together to work on collecting spam-
filtering info.
d. Also need to figure out how to manage the transition from Old
to New Grex. The transition will mean that Grex will be down- but it
shouldn t be down for more than a couple of days. This will also depend
on how many people are involved in the transition work.
e. As for Old Grex- there was a crash- Gelinas power-cycled the
main machine, and all seemed okay.
4. Schedule next meeting: Friday, November 19th at Aruba s- 7:30pm.
5. Co-Location: Gelinas put the info he received in co-op. He
spoke to John Allese (sp?) at Provide.net, they have space in their
loft where we could house Grex.
a. $100.00 for 50gb per month, 128kbps. We could negotiate for
more bandwidth.
b. He ll throw in the cost of electricity
c. We would save money with this set-up.
d. Provide.net didn t particularly care about our configuration;
we wouldn t have to try to fit Grex into a rack mount or anything.
e. We wouldn t need liability insurance.
f. Could possibly bring in RetroGrex too.
g. We will continue to look into the library as an option.
h. Perhaps we could try for a move prior to the expiration of the
Pumpkin lease.
i. Gelinas will go back and ask some more questions.
6. New Business: None
7. 7. Closing Gavel: 8:25 pm.

Someone who wished to remain anonymous. I don't think they use grex.

I think mooncat's beau should register the grex login "visitor", for he has
been identified. names stick around here. :) (although how did mfp know
thats who "the visitor" was when he himself wasn't at the meeting? he have
ESP or something?)

I just read this item carefully. I forget exactly which hints I used, but
it was fairly obvious. I'm sorry if I seemed creepy or something!
