Grex Board of Director’s Meeting, April 12th
|
Apr 14 17:16 UTC 2004 |
Attending Board Members: Aruba, Gelinas, Slynne, Mary, Mooncat,
Polygon, Bhoward
Attending Non-Members: Keesan, Jdeigert, MDW
1. Opening Gavel: 7:04pm
2. Treasurer s Report: In March we took in $480.68, paid out
$415.47. So far in April we have taken in $72.
One new member in March, one returning. Currently we are at 81
members, 78 paid up, the others still in their grace period.
Kip put a power meter in at the Pumpkin and after it ran for
ten days figured that we were actually using less power with both Grex
and Next Grex there than we had feared.
In Feb. Aruba contacted the IRS regarding our 501(c )(3) status-
they apparently sent mail for us to an old address and when they did
not get a reply believed Grex was no longer around. Aruba received
paperwork from them and sent it in as of our last meeting. More
recently Aruba contacted them once again and they explained that they
needed more time to answer our question and would get back to us in 60
days. However we shouldn t worry, we haven t lost our 501 status.
There was another Paypal transaction reversed, however Aruba
contacted them shortly after it happened, and spoke to them. Hopefully
we won t get charged this time.
3. Staff Report/Next Grex: Bhoward has been working on moving
scripts from the one machine to the new one. Progress has slowed more
recently. He is currently working on getting Robocop like programs to
work. General question among the Board if Picospan were put onto Next
Grex would that help staff to get motivated. Backtalk and Fronttalk are
currently on Next Grex, but aren t ready for prime time as it were.
Need someone to go to the Pumpkin and run some traceroutes. Apparently
packets are being lost between Grex and out provider.
Staff has agreed they need to have a meeting but have not yet set a
date or location.
4. Next Meeting: at Slynne s. Preferred date is Friday May 21 at
7:00pm, alternate is Monday May 17th at 7:00pm
5. New Business: Suggested that we write a thank you letter to
ArborWeb for their long-running ad. All agreed this was a good idea.
After the meeting concluded the letter was drafted, signed and mailed.
6. Closing Gavel: 7:35pm

How long has Cyberspace Communications 501 status been defunct and when was
it changed from a 501(a) to a 501(c)3? Should the membership be notified if
they've been claiming deductions on tax returns?

It's always been a 501(c)3 and it's never been defunct.

Scott, quit labelling me. Can't you see through the M-Net blinders?
I am not parroting anyone. I looked at the IRS publication and could not find
Cyberspace Communications. The only thing I've seen in the grex.org website
pertaining to a 501 status says that Grex was granted 501(a) status.
Someone just assumed it equals 501(c)3 but the IRS publication and lookup
databases don't justify such assumption.

Cyberspace Communications was granted 501(c)3 status in 1998, retroactive
to its founding in 1991. We have never had 501(a) status, so I don't know
where Todd read that.

Re 8: Well, I'm probably feeding a troll here, but you've accused somebody
of embezzlement without providing any proof. Since I'm confident that no such
embezzling took place, it must be you who is lying.
